Generating DSA keys of different length
When I try to create a dsa set of key files with -b 999, the key appears to be created with the default of 1024. This does not happen for type rsa or rsa1 keys. They get created with the number of bits I specified. I can't find this problem in the archives. DSA key generation: SY1 97 /SYSTEM/tmp> ssh-keygen -b 999 -t dsa Generating public/private dsa key pair. Enter file in which to

ebcdic problem in bufaux.c
I am working on a port of Openssh 3.8p1 after already having done a port of Openssh 3.5p1. There are a couple of new lines in buffer_get_bignum2() that are causing me problems: if (len > 0 && (bin[0] & 0x80)) fatal("buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported"); The "& 0x80" check is not relevant in ebcdic. Does anyone

sshd refusing connections problem
We have been having a problem with sshd on our shell server. This has been happening since March 4, 2003 or before IIRC. Initially I thought the next OS upgrade, to 4.8 would fix this. I am accustomed to haveing little things go away in a month or two. I think we jumped to 4.7-STABLE on Feb 28, 2003. Some exploit fix wasn't being MFSd to RELENG_4_7 fast enough for my nerves (cvsd?). It

[lattice] display a projected map on a layerplot
summary: I can display a lon-lat map on a lattice::layerplot, and I can display a Lambert conformal conic (LCC) map on a spam::image, but I can't display an LCC map on a lattice::layerplot. Example follows. What am I doing wrong? details: I've been using `lattice` (via `rasterVis`) successfully to display global atmospheric data, which works well enough (though I am definitely intrigued

Lambert (1992) simulation
Hi, I am trying to replicate Lambert (1992)'s simulation with zero-inflated Poisson models. problem moving hostkey from ssh version 3.5p1 to 3.8p
Hi, I am trying to upgrade from OpenSSH_3.5p1 FreeBSD 4.8 to OpenSSH_3.8p1 (Suse 9.1). Although the host rsa and dsa keys have been copied over from old to new machine, linux ssh clients (3.8p1) still bring up the new-key alert. ssh clients from freebsd machines till OpenSSH_3.6.1p1 work fine with the setup (without the new key alert) ssh -vv shows linux clients are looking for type 0 and type

Compatibility issue: OpenSSH v2.3.0p1 vs. 3.0.2: RSA keys
Hello, I think I found a problem that should not happen: An OpenSSH client v3.0.2 on Solaris and an OpenSSH server 2.3.0p1 on HP- UX had a problem when authenticating: Password login worked fine, but a password for an existing and configured RSA1 key was never asked, the key never tried. It always fell back to plain password authentication. After fiddling with the client configuration

To Do list...
This is just portable todo list. From the sounds of it Markus has his own to do list. But can everyone review and let me know if there is anything missing from this list. (Note.. I'm not looking for 'SSH should support XYZ feature.' unless it's directly related to portability.) Or if there is anything on this list that has been completed. (Namely Tru64 SIA support?) Thanks.

OpenBSD version???
John Todd's Onlamp article mentions an OpenBSD version as of June 2003. Have I been sleeping while reading asterisk-users? Is it a seperate project or is it just making Asterisk portable? Who is working on this and is it in the main CVS yet? Do they have device drivers ported or just the software parts of Asterisk? I think the software parts would be relatively simple but time consuming.

Re-using RSA1 keys as RSA
Is there a security issue with turning an RSA1 key into an RSA key? One might want to do this, e.g., to move to protocol 2 without having to update authorized_keys files. I thought there was a problem with this, but Google doesn't find anything. thanks /fc
