Feature request: fsh-like functionality
I have recently found the "fsh" program (http://www.lysator.liu.se/fsh/) which offered exactly what I needed. It is a great program but it is not maintained and was even thrown out of Debian because it was claimed that OpenSSH provided anything FSH offers. In fact, however, I miss a few features in OpenSSH that could easily be added inspired by FSH and make a very valuable addition in

I need to get the means for each column of a dataframe in the list

Mirror site ftp.plig.org out of date
The mirror site ftp.plig.org is out of date, for example
<ftp://ftp.plig.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/snapshot/> stops in
2005-03-07 while the same directory on the master site has recent
files.
I don't know whether this outdatedness applies only to the Portable
OpenSSH snapshots or to the whole OpenBSD tree.

Forcing a variableinto a model using stepAIC
Dear All,
I am attempting to use forward and/or backward selection to determine
the best model for the variables I have. Unfortunately, because I am
dealing with patients and every patient is receiving treatment I need
to force the variable for treatment into the model. Is there a way to
do this using R? (Additionally, the model is stratified by
randomisation period). I know that SAS can be

Connection caching?
Hey all,
on the distcc mailing list, a thread about load balancing
got a bit out of hand, and we started thinking about
moving fsh-like connection caching into ssh itself
to get rid of the overhead of starting up the python
interpreter to run rsh.
(Interestingly, mit's "rex", described at
http://www.lcs.mit.edu/publications/pubs/pdf/MIT-LCS-TR-884.pdf,
considers connection caching

RedHat initialization script and bash2
Installing the new tinc on a system (Mandrake 7.0) that uses bash2 as it shell
turned up a problem with the redhat initialization script.
Attached is a patch to make it functional for both bash and bash2.

[PATCH] scp -S support
[Please Cc: me, I'm not on the list]
fsh (http://www.lysator.liu.se/fsh/) is a program that keeps
an ssh tunnel open and multiplexes multiple batch sessions
through that single connection, avoiding slower public key
crypto for things like cvs.
fsh includes an utility called fcp that can multiplex file
copies through this single connection. It relies on scp for
the actual file copying,

SPAM and other junk posted to openssh-unix-dev@mindrot.org
You can read the list via <http://gmane.org/>, which does its own
Spamassassin and ClamAV filtering. But it looks like at the moment SA
there is having almost as many troubles as that filtering the list
itself.
It would be possible to write some new SA rules to catch the
'suspicious message' crap, and then send them to either the list owner
or the maintainer of Gmane.

Supporting ~10K users on ZFS
OK, I know that there''s been some discussion on this before, but I''m not sure that any specific advice came out of it. What would the advice be for supporting a largish number of users (10,000 say) on a system that supports ZFS? We currently use vxfs and assign a user quota, and backups are done via Legato Networker.

OpenSSH-2.1: FROM in 'w' empty?
Hello all,
I wonder if this is an oversight/bug/feature, but here it goes.
It seems that in OpenSSH 2.1, 'w' (or who) command may print out something
like this:
----
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
pekkas ttyp1 - 3:10am 0.00s 0.08s 0.03s w
----
2.0beta1 was the one I used before, and that printed FROM field properly.

Hello,
I build a new debian release 1.3.12stable-3 to fix some bugs.
ChangeLog

shorewall.conf is set to /var/lib/shorewall/state according to FSH
(closes: #174776).
* /usr/lib/shorewall contained only architecture independent files, those
files are moved to /usr/share/shorewall according to FSH

ssh-keysign bug?
I use ssh in a batch environment (www.pbspro.com) and am using host based
authentication to allow sshes between some resources. When I converted from
openssh 3.1 to newer versions (up to an including 3.8 where ssh-keysign was
moved to a standalone binary) I had issues with ssh-keysign failing with the
error "bad fd". A little exploring showed that this was happening because

How to connect two Asterisks as secure as po ssiblewithout too much additional bandwidth ?
SSH tunnel is the way to go. Here is a little tid bit about setting up SSH
keys, a simple keep alive script, and creating the SSH tunnel I use to
tunnel my SMTP traffic to a reliable SMTP server since my ISP blocks all
traffic incoming/outgoing on port 25.

You could use the same exact thing with an SSH tunnel. In fact, we've done

Poor performance on NFS-exported ZFS volumes
I''m seeing some pretty pitiful performance using ZFS on a NFS server, with a ZFS volume exported (only with rw=host.foo.com,root=host.foo.com opts) and mounted on a Linux host running kernel 2.4.31. This linux kernel I''m working with is limited in that I can only do NFSv2 mounts... irregardless of that aspect, I''m sure something''s amiss.
I mounted the zfs-based

rsyncd.conf without --daemon?
Hello all,
I'm not a total newbie, but probably close enough. I have tried to
find the answer to this question, but have been unsuccessful.
I'm testing out rsync over ssh using empty passphrases between 2
OpenBSD 3.5 boxes using rsync 2.5.7 (yes i know i should upgrade, but
can't because of BSD ports issues).
Everything seems to be working, but I'm very confused as to why it is
