Using /bin/sh to exec subsystems [PATCH]
I've gone ahead and written the code to allow subsystems to always be run with the Bourne shell instead of the user's shell, thus allowing user's with invalid shells to be able to use sftp (but not ssh, because their shell is invalid). The patch is attached. -------------- next part -------------- An embedded and charset-unspecified text was scrubbed... Name: bin-sh-subsystem.diff

Unable to access and browse a DFS tree
Please help me understand why I am unable to connect to and browse the newly configured DFS tree that I installed on my Samba server according to the instructions found in Chapter 18. "Hosting a Microsoft Distributed File System Tree" of the official how-to. Irrespective of whether I try to access the dfs file tree from either the local file browser (and choosing the SMB tree) or from

scp with files > 2gb
A while back someone posted a patch for scp that updates it to deal with files > 2gb by using 64 bit offsets as defined by LFS (Large File Sumit). I belive the patch was tested on Linux but maybe not on other systems that support largefiles. I've tried this under Solaris and scp fails with a broken pipe on only the second write to the pipe between scp and ssh if the file is over 2gb. If

CPU usage over estimated?
I have a quad core CPU running Centos5. When I use top, I see that running processes use 245% instead of 100%. Sweave line length
Hello, I am trying to add R code to my dissertation and the length of a line of text that Sweave generates is longer than the right margin in my dissertation. I have found no way to tell Sweave how to set the line length. I am using an iMac with tiger ver. 10.4.10, and R: ver. 2.5.1. Here is the R code that is longer than my right margin: input to Sweave:

SecurID patch.
What are the chances of getting the SecurID patch integrated into OpenSSH? I think I asked before and was told that it could be done with PAM, but I (and others) are not satisfied with the PAM support. This "tight" integration seems to work much better. If not, I'll just sit on my rogue patches :-( -- Theo Schlossnagle 1024D/A8EBCF8F/13BD 8C08 6BE2 629A 527E 2DC2 72C2 AD05 A8EB

Starting Network UPS Tools: (upsdrvctl failed) upsd upsmon ?
Using the HOWTO in http://keystoneit.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/network-ups-tools-nut-on-ubuntu/ I installed nut on an Ubuntu Edgy LAMP Server with an Eaton Powerware 5110 attached to it via usb. But nut fails to start properly (see the error message "Starting Network UPS Tools: (upsdrvctl failed) upsd upsmon" below). It then complains about communication with the UPS being lost ("UPS

A working SIP Phone for Centos44?
I tried numerous but most of them just don't work. They fail on the quality of the microphone. I tried two that support alsa. Kphone does, but dtmf (the numbers) are not recognized by Asterisk :-( I tried X-lite, but that has really terrible voice quality (mic). I tried Sflphone (has alsa support) and that worked on FC4 (not on FC3) and it does not work on Centos44 either: [root at raaf

Need to restart ypserv to update the nis maps
Hi I use NIS om my network (CentOS4.6). When an update on a map occurs (home directory changed in /etc/passwd for instance), I run make -C /var/yp/ and check the result on a client. On the client I use "ypcat passwd" and find indeed that the update has propagated (the clients run ypbind service). On the client I have configured /etc/nsswitch.conf with : passwd: files nis shadow:

error
Hello, I'm trying to compile linphone 3.0.0 in Ubuntu And I'm getting the following compilation error. I somewhere read that the fault happens because of the gcc 4.3.2 that debian based linux uses. Is there any solution (except downgrading gcc) Thank you in advance if /bin/bash ../libtool --tag=CC --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../include/ -I.. -I../../oRTP/include
