OSSH 2.5.2p2: Why is /usr/local/ put into the include & lib p aths under Solaris?
But the main question hasn't been answered: Why is /usr/local placed before user-specified paths? Hypothetical example: You want to link against OpenSSL 0.96 for OpenSSH, but /usr/local contains 0.95, which is needed for something else. (Assume it comes binary only on Solaris for the sake of argument...) --Matt > -----Original Message----- > From: Damien Miller [mailto:djm at

OSSH 2.5.2p2: Why is /usr/local/ put into the include & lib paths under Solaris?
I'd like to know why /usr/local/(include|lib) is added to the (include|library) path. I'd _especially_ like to know why it's added before user-specified library directories such as OpenSSL. If I specify --with-openssl=/foo/openssl, I want to actually _use_ the version of openssl in /foo/openssl, not some version that may have been installed in /usr/local. This really makes no

How to --exclude /usr/ but --include /usr/local/ ?
In looking at man rsync, it does not appear to both --exclude /usr/ and --include /usr/local/ because from the man page: "If a pattern excludes a particular parent directory, it can render a deeper include pattern ineffectual because rsync did not descend through that excluded section of the hierarchy." I start rsync at / and the files I wish to save are

/usr/lib/R/library vs /usr/local/lib/R/site-library
I would appreciate getting a clarification of /usr/lib/R/library vs /usr/local/lib/R/site-library. I am running R 1.8 on Debian Linux. On one occasion doing update.packages() resulted in versions of one or more libraries being placed in one of these directories without removing the old version, and the old version took precedence over the new. I'm sorry I did not save the steps I used. I

The same went for the 'minqa' package which is needed by lme4. I have R version 3.0.2 running on Fedora 20. "yum update R" says that's the latest available. Is my system

i compiled flac 1.1.2 on my intel mac and it wants libflac in /usr/local/lib using v 1.1.1, it didn't. i was able to put the compiled flac binary anywhere and it ran fine. but with v 1.1.2, the compiled flac binary needs libflac now? can i avoid this somehow?

Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libquadmath.0.dylib
Hi all, I tried to load a package which includes a shared object on one of my Macs, and I got an error message below, which suggests that the file " libquadmath.0.dylib" is missing in the /usr/local/lib folder. On my other Mac however, I have no problem loading the package, and the file " libquadmath.0.dylib" is in the /usr/local/lib folder. I wonder where this

[LLVMdev] /usr/local/src/llvm/include/Config/alloca.h:42:17:#error "The function alloca()
Hi John, In my setup OBJDIR is SRCDIR. I'm looking at the config.h and not config.h.in. Yes, defining HAVE_ALLOCA_H to 1 fixed the compilation. Moreover, I also defined HAVE_ALLOCA to 1 in the config.h: -------------------- /* Define to 1 if you have `alloca', as a function or macro. */ /* #undef HAVE_ALLOCA */ #define HAVE_ALLOCA 1 /*Henrik:*/ /* Define to 1 if you have

Full_Name: Jori M?ntysalo Version: 2.3.1 OS: Linux, GNU/Debian stable Submission from: (NULL) (81.197.171.182) I said ./configure --with-readline=no --with-x=no make make install and everything works except that /usr/local/lib/R/etc/ldpaths was not readable as normal user.
