rsync-3.0.3 on TRU64 5.1a w/ provided c compiler
This is less of a question and more of just an FYI to any other poor soul that happens to run into the same problem that I just spent 3 hours trying to correct. I was working on getting rsync 3.0.3 compiled on a TRU64 5.1 alpha system, using the provided (compaq?) c-compiler. The first step was to set the compile flags: CC=cc CFLAGS='-std1 -O' export CC CFLAGS Then run the configure

openssh-3.4p1 built on Tru64 Unix 5.1a - bug with sftpd
Dear openssh-unix-dev; I recently downloaded the tarball openssh-3.4p1 and built it for my Tru64 Unix ( OSF/1 ) 5.1a system. My configure statement is: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/security/tools/openssh-3.4p1 \ --exec-prefix=/usr/local/security/tools/openssh-3.4p1 \ -with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/security/tools/openssl-0.9.6g \ -with-zlib-dir=/usr/local/compress/tools/zlib-1.1.3 \

R on Tru64 OSF 5.1
Has anyone achieved a current successful build of R 1.8 or 1.9 or earlier for HPUX Tru 64 OSF 5.1? There is no binary version of R for HPUX Tru 64 OSF 5.1. The R admin manual mentions that the native make fails on "Alpha/OSF (aka Tru 64)" and gnu make must be used instead. There are problems reported with building R versions around 1.4 from 2002 on R-devel, some of which were fixed with

Problems Compiling sshd - OpenSSH 3.8p1 on Tru64 UNIX V4.0F PK#7 (OSF)
I am trying to compile sshd 3.8p1 on Tru64 UNIX V4.0F Patch Level 7. Previously I've compiled the entire 3.6.1p2 distribution with no problems. The problem seems to occur when linking sshd. The linker is unable to find xcrypt and shadow_pw functions (openbsd-compat/*.c). The libopenbsd-compat seems to have built without errors. I configure as follows: CC=cc CFLAGS=-O LDFLAGS=-non_shared

Tru64 and OSF/1 Privsep patch
Ok.. I need wider testing for this. I'm getting reports back it works mostly. 'ssh site ls' fails, but they can login with Privsep enbled. Can I get those who are using Tru64 or OSF/1 that have SIA enabled to test? This should apple to either -cvs or the current snapshot (I would perfer not to use 3.4p1 due to bugs). I'm going on a trip next week and will be around very spotty

getnameinfo() call and fake-rfc2553.c
Hello All, Im using OpenSSH 4.2p1. The getnameinfo() call in my system libc is broken and as a result SSH fails saying getnameinfo failed:host nor service provided. Im thinking of using getnameinfo() call available from openbsd-compat directory to get rid of this problem. As this is a production system, we can't make changes without convincing my syadmin and managers. I understand that

OSF/1 or Tru64 patch for Privsep
Either this never made it to the list or no one cares about Tru64. This is the last time I'll send this patch to the list. If no one steps up and finishes it or provides me with enough information to fix any remaining bugs (one being complaint that 'ssh site cmd' does not work right). If there is no activity on this for a week. I'll post it to bugzilla and will ignore any

sshd failing to allow connections.
HI Guys, On my Slackware-current firewall I cannot ssh into it. The tail of the syslog is :- Jun 1 10:56:15 firefly sshd[22176]: fatal: get_sock_port: getnameinfo NI_NUMERICSERV failed any ideas why I get this error? Although slack-current includes openssh I've actually built this one from source ( and openssl too ) in case it was a config issue with the slackware -current release (which
