"PAM rejected by account configuration" and "fatal: monitor_read: unsupported request: 24" problem at secong sshd instance
Hi, I setup two sshd instance (using OpenSSH_3.5p1 bins on redhat7.2 kernel 2.4.20-19.7smp ) in order to achieve differnet sshd settings (e.g use different auth.method) on two different network interfaces (both on port 22). For example to setup Hostbased authetication on the 1st sshd and RSA pub. key auth. on the second: The 1st instance config file /etc/ssh/sshd_config looks like:

OpenSSH Authentication on Solaris w/ NIS+ Problem
Hello, I am having a very aggrivating problem, and I will try and provide all of the necessary information. I have openssh-3.7.1p2 with openssl-0.9.6k installed on Solaris 8. Here is what I've been able to determine so far: 1. Local account authentication works fine (non-NIS+). 1a. NIS+ is running at security level 2 2. Telnet authentication works fine. 2a. When I use the SSH client,

X11 forwarding problem -- openssh-3.5p1 -- redhat 8.0 -- linux 2.4.18
All, I'm working on upgrading a machine from RH 6.2 to RH 8.0. I've encountered one major (for me) snag in that I cannot get X11 forwarding to work anymore. I've been google-ing the error messages all morning, with no luck. Here is debugging output from the server (client debugging output sent upon request... I don't feel it is relevant). What I feel is interesting is at the

ssh trouble checklist
Hi. There should be a checklist of everything that can go wrong with making an ssh connection. Here's one entry for the list, which I didn't know before, and * I couldn't see the problem from the -ddd and -vvv output, and * there were no /var/log/* file entries to give hints. Here's what I did sudo kill <pid-of-sshd> /usr/sbin/sshd No good. Usually I did kill

kerberos + gssapi password change
Hello I am not a developer, but since this is a more advanced issue I rather post to this list than to the users list, I hope this is OK. We are currently running openssh with simon's gssapi patch and want to move towards the new integrated solution with openssh-3.7.1p2. A problem we experienced in both versions of openssh is that we are not able to change the kerberos password, when it

Clarification
List, Being pretty new to CentOS and such, can someone answer a couple of questions about yum and up2date? I think I got the basic info, but I'm a bit confused about what does what. I configured yum to use the dag repo (I think) but now and then, I get the red circle from up2date stuff on the upper menubar. I have been using the up2date function to grab the latest bits when

[PATCH] Added option 'RetryDelay'
Being rather aggrevated when testing at the enforced 1 second delay between each connection attempt and the useless 1 second delay done after all connection attempts have failed I wrote a patch to make the number of seconds delayed between each connection attempt configurable. sshd (openssh 3.7.1p1) dies during login on Solaris 8 system with SRM installed
I have compiled ssh 3.7.1p1 using gcc and am trying to get it to run on our Solaris 8 systems running Sun's SRM system. With existing users it is fine, but with a new user, the user can not ssh in on the first login, they get the message from SRM that no lnode has been created. I put sshd in debug and found that it SEG's here: debug3: mm_sshpam_free_ctx: waiting for

sshd audit not happy with ssh1 and scp
I think I've found a bug with sshd handling audit events for commands (like scp) over ssh1 connections. Specifically, after updating to a recent FreeBSD 6.x with audit support, I'm getting log messages like these when using scp over ssh1: Sep 12 14:13:16 <auth.info> bm55 sshd[12335]: Accepted rsa for xxx from A.B.C.D port 2981 Sep 12 14:13:16 <auth.crit> bm55 sshd[12335]:

Evolution
When I set up the Evolution mail agent, I could find no way to change the outbound port from 25 to 587. I have to do this due to port 25 being blocked by the cable company. Thunderbird is no problem. Altho I don't particularly use Evolution as a mail agent, there are times when I might use it, but its worthless without being able to send mail out to my server. Did I miss something in
