remote vs local window discrepancy
I am utilizing an openssh tunnel between two Linux boxes. On the client
box I issue the following commands to set up the tunnel;
- ssh -w0:0 root at x.x.x.x -v where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the Linux
system running sshd
- ip addr add 10.0.5.1/32 peer 10.0.5.2 dev tun0
- ip link set tun0 up
On the box running sshd I issue the following commands:
- ip addr add 10.0.5.2/32 peer 10.0.5.1 dev

Suspicious sshd log messages in my syslog
Hello All,
I'm using OpenSSH 4.3p2. I'm getting few messages in my syslog and it is
shown below,
Aug 02 11:15:19 foo sshd[4381]: Received window adjust for non-open channel
0.
I found that sshd received a SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_WINDOW_ADJUST and it executes
the function channel_input_window_adjust() in channels.c. I like to know how
this can happen for a non-open channel. Is anything

Strange R/party behaviuor in CentOS
Hello,
I'm facing a strange behaviour when I try to run predict function for a
cforest model from party package in CentOS.
It works OK on MacOSX and Ubuntu, but R process is killed when I try it on
CentOS.
I read a dataframe and generate a forest model using cforest from party
package. To reduce computation for the tests I'm running the forest model
with 2 (two) trees only. So I believe

Unix Extensions and "force create mode"?
It seems that when the clients (and the server) use Unix extensions, the
"force create mode" (and maybe "force directory mode"?) setting is
completely ignored.
I have a Samba 3.2.5 server that is accessed from Windows and Linux.
One share is configured as follows:

Two bugs showing up mostly on SPARC systems
In testing pqR on Solaris SPARC systems, I have found two bugs that
are also present in recent R Core versions. You can see the bugs and
fixes at the following URLs:

Have you ran a "long" smart test on the drive? Smartctl -t long device
I'm not sure what's going on with your drive. But if it were mine, I'd want
to replace it. If there are issues, that long smart check ought to turn up
something, and in my experience, that's enough for a manufacturer to do a
warranty replacement.

Gruff: Adjustment of font and labels
Hi,
My graphs are working properly except two things:
1. The font of the "title" is way to big and so gets cropped and
2. On X-axis I want to display my labels which are varchars. But again
because of the limitation of the graph size it is overlapping on one
another.
I can increase the graph dimension but it doesn''t look good. Any ideas
on
1. How to reduce the font
2. Is

Census ARIMA x-12 seasonal adjustment in R?
Hello,
I am new to usin R - which is a great tool - and would like to know if R
has a seasonal adjustment program for time series and/if it incorporates
the Census Bureau's ARIMA x-12 seasonal adjustment program in any way?
Thanks so much!

Test the adjustment to Exponential distribution
Hello!
I need to test the adjustment of a (Negative) Exponential Distribution to a
dataset. The parameter of the distribution is unknown. What is the
appropriate test to do? I've tried the ks.test, although I think this isn't
the appropriate one, as I don't know the parameter.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance,
Janete

Heckman regression / adjustment for standard errors?
Hello folks,
I am trying to estimate the two-step Heckman regression model. I would like to make an adjustment for intragroup correlations. Stata can implement this with the "cluster" option, but I am really hoping to stick with R. It seems that the micEcon package is the primary source for this two-step regression model (i.e., heckit), but I can't find a way to make the

GEE - test for overdispersion and scale adjustment
Hi there,
I am using the geepack package and wish to test if my data (family=poisson)
is overdispersed so that I may adjust the "scale.value" if necessary. Is
there a specific function or method I should be using?
Thanks for the advice,
Bruce
