How Many Calls On This Config
We have a test server that runs a single PIII 500MHz(256MB RAM) under Slackware, and we can get 12 SIP -> Zap calls running on it just fine. Over that and we have seen intermittant errors like call quality and very high load spikes. You should be able to get at least 24 SIP -> Zap on that setup. Post on the list when you do max it out. It's always good to see capacity specs. MATT---

R GUI ???
Hello ! I am really happy to find this list. I am not new to R but to Debian or Linux in general. Up to now I used R on MS Windows but now I want to use R on Debian lenny. I have absolutely no experience with Debian. I was able to install R 2.11 on my system using the instruction in the readme on CRAN. I can open R in the shell. On windows I used R with the R GUI or with Tinn-R. Is there the

Strange battery power shortage on an Unitek iZi UPS 525
Hi everyone, I've been using nut 2.0.3 for more than a year on a Unitek iZi UPS 525 (which is a rebadged Mustek). Everything worked fine and last week, when pressed by RENEL :-) I ran a battery test which showed the system to have 17min of back-up power (yes, still haven't figured out how to use upssched...) The system used for testing was an old PIII/500MHz/512KB cache, 256MB RAM (3 x

Centos 4 - text based install - LVM ?
Has anyone gotten this to work ? I can define a raid device but cant put a VG on it. I then tried 'autopartition' and it created an 'LVM' of sorts, when I tried to edit it I wasnt able to as a message appeared saying, LVM editing was not allowed in text mode. Any help ? Cheers, Brian. PS - PIII-500mhz 128mb RAM, 4mb AGP.

Problem with T100P card in a new chassis
Due to some failed hardware on another platform, I've had to move a T100P card to a different chassis. After this move was completed, I am seeing some strange results on the T100P card that do not display to me any failure mode with which I am familiar. The card comes up, and shows "good" carrier and status, but Asterisk refuses to bring the D-channel up. Calls of course do

Serious stability issues
We have encountered a number of problems with our firewall recently, and the past 24 hours have left me quite concerned. Here is what we are seeing: 1. Original firewall, a PentiumPro/200 with 96Mb RAM, serving approx 500 client PCs for a 10Mb internet connection. Running Mandrake 9.2, we began seeing severe swapping a few weeks, with kernel mem usage exceeding 200Mb. Given an ip_conntrack

Error report on empty matrices (PR#435)
Dear R developers: When using R.0.99a (Version 0.99.0 Patched (February 9, 2000), source compiled with gcc under SuSE 6.2) on a PIII 500Mhz Machine under SuSE 6.2 Linux I found the following bug: x <- matrix(0,10,0) rbind(x,2) causes an R-crash with the message "Gleitkomma-Ausnahme" (floating point exception) which is probably due to the non-applicability of the recyling

Just need to vent
Sometimes the direction of UI development in gnome really angers me. For example, when selecting a font for the gedit text editor - there is no way to ask it to only show monospace fonts. It's a fricken text editor, that should be the default - meaning you have to do something special to get fonts shown that aren't monospace. Seriously, who is in charge with the UI design in gnome?

Updating kernel driver module questions
I am running CentOS 4.7, presently on an older box (PIII slot 1 processor @ 500mhz with 384meg of RAM, using SCSI disks with an AHA-2940 host controller). I have built a new box: AMH Semporon 2.<mumble> GHZ, 2gig of RAM. I put in a AHA-29160 host controller (uses same driver as the AHA-2940). The motherboard is an ASROCK thing with nVideo's chipset: nv's SATA controller and

NFS freeze when transmitting big files
Hi, I have one old spare PC, a PIII with 128 MB RAM, that I use as a spare file server. I have a headless CentOS 5 install on it, and a 2 terabyte external USB harddisk. The machine is in my basement (because it's quite loud), and I'm using what's called "CPL" here (Courant Porteur), which is basically Ethernet over 220V power lines. It's much slower than normally

[Centos 5] minimum RAM required to install : 1GB ?
Hi, From the release notes i can read : "Note that the minimum RAM required to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.92 has been raised to 1GB; the recommended RAM is 2GB. If a machine has less than 1GB RAM, the installation process may hang." Is it a joke/mistake ? :-O 1GB !!! I tested installation process with 256M / Celeron 600, seems to work ...) -- Martin

Hangs on multiple small files
I am running rsync on win9x (PIII 900, 128MB RAM) between a mapped network drive and a local drive. For small folders on this machine rsync works great, but the folder I am syncronising with has 13GB of data and > 1,000,000 files. Out of about 20 attempts rsync has only succeded once, all other times it just seems to hang. Not much info but any ideas? Thanks Scott

EXT3 'kernel BUG' in 0.05e?
After approx. two weeks of uptime. This host always has some network activity, and when it happened, it was either running or had just finished making backup of about 1200MB (from few ext3 to one ext3 filesystem). kernel was still alive to network pings and services responded, but trying to ssh failed (just hanged there before opening session but after giving last login info). telneting to pop3
