rspec causing validates_presence_of to validate twice?
I had posted this on the regular Rails list, but upon trying this in
script/console, it seems like the behavior only exists when running rspec.
I''m getting some weird behavior in one of my models. I have a model
defined something like this
class User < ActiveRecord::Base
attr_accessor :password
validates_presence_of :password
end
If I validate the model without specifying a

spec_server doesn''t update ''required'' files
I have some specs that ''require'' other files. When running spec_server, if
these required files are changed, it''s not picked up when the specs are
run. I have to restart spec_server to get the changes recognized. Is there
an option or some such to have spec_server reload required files as well
when a spec is run?
Thanks,

"WARNING" after each spec
I just updated to r2784, and now all of my specs output the ''.'' and then
''WARNING: there is already a transaction in progress'', either once or
twice before the next dot. It''s indicating that all specs are passing,
there''s just a whole ton of noise for some reason. Any idea what causes
this to be thrown out there? Is this an RSpec thing?

Stories location
Should the stories dir be located on the project root? I was expecting to
find it located under spec/ but there isn''t anything there, just the
stories dir off of /. Also there don''t appear to be any rake tasks for
stories, nor generators. Should there be any?

Custom File List for Rails 3 Spec Task
I have some javascript specs (using the jspec javascript framework) in my rails 3 project, living in the spec/javascript directory. How can I exclude the ruby files in the jspec project from being run when I run "rake spec"?
RSpec::Core::RakeTask used to take a file list (which was usually generated with a glob pattern and an explicit call to Dir.glob). Now it only takes a glob

Example for attr_accessible?
Is anyone out there writing specs to check attr_accessible fields? I had
originally written my spec to check for allowing the desired fields, and
then none of the other regular db fields. Unfortunately this isn''t
satisfactory, because attr_protected could have been used instead, which
of course wouldn''t prevent mass assignment to any whatever=(val) method.
I''m thinking

RCov results seem to include the spec files
I saw the RCov page at http://rspec.rubyforge.org/tools/rcov.html and
decided to add it to my project. My rakefile looks like this:
require "rake"
require "spec/rake/spectask"
desc "Run all specs with RCov"
Spec::Rake::SpecTask.new("spec:rcov") do |t|
t.spec_files = FileList["spec/**/*_spec.rb"]
t.rcov = true
end
When I run rake spec:rcov,

Testing layouts with RSpec on Rails
Hey guys,
Does anyone have any wisdom to share on the subject of speccing Rails
layouts?
Most of it''s plain old view specs stuff, but are there sensible ways
to verify things like the yield call? (Mocking doesn''t catch that)
Thanks,
Matt

Specs for code stored in rails_app/lib/
Where should the specs go for code in the "lib" directory of a Rails
app?
I made a folder, "spec/lib/", for storing such specs, and RSpec
automatically picks them up when run using "rake spec".
Before I go ahead and patch rspec_on_rails/lib/autotest/
rails_rspec.rb so that autotest can monitor these specs I''d like to
ask whether this is the

rspec_autotest failing
Is the rspec_autotest plugin mentioned here,
http://blog.nicksieger.com/articles/2006/11/15/rspec-autotest-now-a-rails-plugin
the accepted method of auto testing specs? It''s an old article, and after
grabbing the plugin, and giving it a run, it fails with:

nuby: how spec redirect_to at ApplicationController

Still rspec nuby: I must do something wrong obviously.
How can I spec about redirect_to at ApplicationController

Need help in View Spec
Hello everyone:
I am kind of puzzled in writing spec on view partials. I can not find much
information about the "should have_tag" syntax in Rspec. Can rspec test a
particular attribute of a tag (e.g. input tag)? Let me put an example here:
#../view/group/_index
<div id="test">
<input type="button" value="update" onclick="update()"

rake spec:views no transaction error
Hello,
I have recently upgraded to the 0.8.2 release of rSpec, and I am receiving
the following message with each view spec execution:
WARNING: there is no transaction in progress
I have upgraded the rspec_on_rails plugin as well, and both the model and
controller tests are working flawlessly. Is there some simple step I
missed? thanks for the input.

spec:models depends on development db:migration
For those interested ....
rake spec:models seems to clone the test database from development. If
your dev db is empty, the models task fails mysteriously.
Anyway, to make sure your dev db is at the current migration version, I
added this dependency in lib/tasks
task ''spec:models'' => ''db:migrate''
Now the dev db is migrated up with each test pass.
