Took a quick look at this.
I can confirm that when running in inetd ("-i -o Protocol=1,2") the SSHv1
ephemeral keys are still generated for v2 connects, and that with the patch it's
not.
The patch, however, seems to break SSHv1 connections in inetd

Negative values for ups.delay.shutdown and ups.delay.start
I was testing my new MGE Nova 1100 and I am seeing negative numbers for
ups.delay.start and ups.delay.shutdown which seems odd, but also seems to
be expected according to examples I have found for MGE Systems.
Can someone explain or point me to an explanation of what those numbers
mean? The short descriptions don't appear to be compatible with negative
numbers.

newhidups failing with Nova 1100 on FC5
I have been testing out my new MGE Nova 1100 on a system (dual Athlon) running
Fedora Core 5 and the newhidups driver seems to be regularly dying.
The UPS is the USB model, I have nut-2.0.3-0.1.fc5 and nut-cgi-2.0.3-0.1.fc5
installed. I am running a 2.6.16 kernel. (I haven't upgraded to FC5's
2.6.17 kernel yet as there seem to be some complaints about it.)
The driver initially works.

fsync, ext3, raid (md) 1, write barriers and PATA caching
I have been trying to figure out whether I can enable write caching on my
PATA hard drives (WD3200JB) and have fsync not return until data is
safely on the platters. I am also running software raid.
This is currently on FC5 (though soon to be FC6) with a 2.6.18 kernel.
>From snippets I have found on the net, it looks like write barriers are
pushed down through software raid when using raid 1.

Deleted file marker
Is there a marker to indicate a deleted file in EXT3 similar to FAT32's E5?
Thanks

call pick up and joining an active call
I am looking at buying either a TDM411B or TDM431B to play around with
Asterisk at home.
What I am wondering is if I could use the TDM431B to divide our phone lines
into 3 groups to use as an intercom, but still have them work normally
for answering calls and calling outside.
I found commands for checking if a channel is in use, so I should be able to
do different things depending on whether or

dovecot, vpopmail and djb's tcpserver
Hello!
I've tried to set up dovecot in conjuction with vpopmail, and running it
under djb's tcpserver instead of (x)inetd.
Btw - there was no reference to setting dovecot up using (x)inetd either in
the manuals/faqs i read, though I didn't search all that hard. Anyway, back
to my Q:
vpopmail uses vchkpw as an authentication mechanism, and with tcpserver I
can do relaycontrol (based

inetd & corrupt environment
Hello. I'm having the following problem with dovecot 1.0.12 and above,
on a FreeBSD 7.0 system - I'm trying to run pop3-login from inetd and I
keep getting this error after authentication:
May 25 09:46:19 charlie dovecot: POP3(gelu): /libexec/ld-elf.so.1:
environment corrupt; missing value for no-nuls oe-ns-eoh
The problem persists if I uncomment the lines with no-nuls oe-ns-eoh in

inetd/xinetd/tcpserver support
I was just thinking how they could be easily supported. This would work,
right? :
imap stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap-login
imaps stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap-login --ssl
imap-login would try to connect to master process using some named
socket. If it couldn't, it would create the master process itself.

Dovecot and fake users
Hi everyone,
Our company has decided to make a fake POP3 (and possibly IMAP)
server, which accepts any user name and password combination and shows
there are no new messages. This is for the purpose that when our mail
cluster passes out, we can redirect our clients to this server while we
fix our mail system. This way we can prevent our users from getting
errors. We are using the latest

rate limiting sshd connections ?
Does anyone know of a way to rate limit ssh connections from an IP address
? We are starting to see more and more brute force attempts to guess
simple passwords "/usr/sbin/inetd -wWl -C 10" is nice for slowing down
attempts to services launched via inetd. Is there an equiv method for
doing this to sshd? Running from inetd has some issues supposedly.

Problem in e2fsck ? read error in journal inode
Hi
I'm experiencing some problems on a harddisk (it has crashed for no known reason),
and in pursuit of getting some of the data out of the disk I'm learning to use the
e2fs progs package.
Origianlly I used version 1.38, but after experiencing segfaults in e2fsck -which now is solved,
I upgraded to 1.39, but now I have hit another problem (on another partition):
The partition was
