Dovecot IMAP connections
What exactly means "deinit".
Yesterday I had all IMAP processes with word "deinit" in brackets and
dovecot reached the limit of processes.
I had to do a restart of the process.
eg.:
dovecot 32482 0.0 0.0 24832 4256 ? S 03:29 0:00
dovecot_host1/imap [pierrot xxx.xxx.xx.xx (deinit)]
Dovecot version 2.2.32.

chroot-patch for 3.6.1p1?
Hi all,
I am looking for a chroot-patch like it was available for the 3.5p1 version. Does anybody has such a patch? Because chroot doesn't work with 3.6.1p1 under Reliant Unix 5.45 from Fujitsu-Siemens.

Re: recovering corrupt file system
well, the next place to go, if fsck isn't enough would be to to try
debugfs(1)
man debugfs.

[Q] What might cause modification dates to shift later by an hour?
Recently, our backup software oddly decided to rebackup a good
portion of our file server instead of just doing an incremental. When
I examined various sets of presumably identical files, I discovered
that the modification dates on these files were no longer the same.
Many files were re-dated to exactly one hour later such that if a
file had been modified on 3/24/04 at 2:24:53 PM, it's

Please How do I calculate the offset of a file within a ext3 partition
Hi,
I need to understand and to calculate the offset of the beginning of a
file within my partition which uses an ext3 filesystem.
Can I use dumpe2fs to figure that out, if yes how?
Sincerely,

Retaining undelete data on ext3
Having just spent a day trying to recover a deleted ext3 file
for a friend, I'm wondering about this way of maintining
undelete information in ext3, like is done for ext2:
The last step in the deletion process would be to put back
the (previously zeroed) block pointers. Since it gets logged
to the journal, I _think_ that this should be safe. The worst
that would happen is that, if the plug

mounting it with "noatime" option when I searched for some solution I came
across a patch

semi-formatted partition
Hello list,
I would like to share a little problem with you :
I've lost an 5Gb partition in an installation of Ututo GNU/Linux. It seems
that the installation script does not took care of my /home and it tried of
format it. When I saw that my old sda8 partition was being formatted as ext3
(fast format) I immediately, hard-restart my computer. After a run level 1
restart, I discovered that it

Compact Flash, EXT3, and IDE - a bad idea?
Hi All,
I'm currently running an embedded linux system (arm) with a CF card mounted as EXT3. I'll copy some system details below... Anyway, I'm getting some drive errors and I'm wondering if they're due to bad/old drivers, something with EXT3 and CF latency, or something else entirely.
These are the errors:
hda: write_intr error1: nr_sectors=1, stat=0x51

bit per bit copy! ext3
I have a flash memory stick that is formated with ext3 file system. NOw,
there is an application on it that I would like to copy to another memory
stick. I can copy it, but when I do so, that application does not work
properly (it won't start - boot problem???). Is there a tool that can copy
an entire content from one flash stick to another? Thanks!!!

un'stat'able files - fs corruption?

I have some serious problems on my ext3 filesystem. Several folders

not even a stat() on these files is possible:

Is ext3 the right choice?
Dear All,
Our mobile device, which runs linux 2.4, uses ext3 as its filesystem.
To make ext3 work, we have Samsung's xrs module, a middle layer which
resembles MTD, to simulate disk devices over Samsung's onenand flash.
Recently some of our phones are suffering a filesystem crash with only
30% space used on that partition. So I began to doubt whether it is
right to employ an disk

recovering corrupt file system
Any recommendations for tools to diagnose and recover problems on an ext4 file system?
In particular:
root@jessie01:~# mount -o ro /dev/markov02/root /mnt/markov02
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/markov02-root,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.

Unable to get transaction opinfo for transaction ID gluster version 3.6
Hi,
I have some blocked transactions. Does anybody have some advise on how I
could mend this because I am unsure where to start?
I believe this broke after I issued some set auth.allow commands:
# gluster volume set oem-shared auth.allow
10.54.54.57,10.54.54.160,10.54.54.161,10.54.54.213,10.54.54.214,10.22.9.73,10.22.9.74
Kind regards, Sophie

Is it a way to upgrade CentOS 7 to 8?
Hi,
I?m looking for a method to upgrade my centos 7 servers to 8 and I don?t find anything to do that!
I?m a very newbie with CentOS? My choices where gone to Debian or Ubuntu and it was very simple. Just some files must be changed (/etc/apt/source.list). My search suggest a RELH subscription. Is it the only way?
Best regards
