Mongrel_Cluster PID File Creation Error.
Hello,
Thank you for your development of Mongrel, great job. :)
I am using mongrel_cluster, but I have a problem where my rails
application name includes a "." such as mydomain.com, which causes an
error when generating the PID file for mongrel.
I have attached below a diff of the current working copy in the trunk
and the changes I made to overcome this problem. I kept your

Rails db model validation with separate web forms, help.
Hello,
I have a DB model that has many columns and I would like to separate the
input from the user into web forms on many pages to not overburden the
user with entering a lot of info on one page.
However, I can''t figure out how to handle the validation of the user''s
input... I would like to validate each piece of data on each form page
before the user is allowed to move

GFP_BUFFER change to GFP_NOFS is not nice to symlinks
Hello Andrew,
I fetched (CVS) ext3 latest changes (3 July 2001) which include
changing GFP_BUFFER to GFP_NOFS and now have random troubles with
symlink files on ext3 filesystems.
>From my experience over the last days with Linus's changes I find
that GFP_NOIO worked perfectly.
Below is Linus's response about bounce buffer change.
I am late to work, but this evening will try to

rpc and wine
can someone tell me how to get RPC and WINE to work in conjunction with one
another? I have serious need to run an RPC application under linux's WINE
port. If I cannot find a solution, I'm regretably going to have to change
the OS to windows which I'd prefer not to do.
Thanks,
Chris

Capistrano with CVS repository doesn''t seem to work
All,
Does anyone has any experience with Capistrano against a CVS repository?
I am unable to successfully pull a revision onto my remote server when
hitting a CVS repository.
Here is the relevant output from the cap "update_code" task:
* executing "if [[ ! -d ~dusan/eSimplyTest/releases/20060410205540 ]];
then\n
cd ~dusan/eSimplyTest/releases;\n

Call for testing for 3.6
We are heading into a lock here. So we need to get people to test their
respective platforms if they wish them to be supported out of the tar file.
So if you have any patches you need to ensure your platform works speak
up. We are looking at a lock on the 17th.
I believe I have an AIX/Cray patch and a Tru64 patch sitting in my mailbox
that I'll be looking at soon and more than likely

Mongrel is crashing under heavy loads
Hi
We''re running mongrel on CentOS 4.2 with Apache httpd 2.2
mod_proxy_balancer, mongrel_cluster-0.2.0, Rails 1.1.6, Ruby 1.8.4,
Pg 8.1.4 backend.
We are on the verge of going live with our site and I am stress

While the changes to m4/nut_check_libssl.m4 have improved detection
of OpenSSL on Solaris, it breaks on platforms that did not have

Once more, with diffs... (configure.in aclocal.m4 patch against CVS)
The attached unified diff fixes configure so that all --with-libfoo options
are allowed to be --with-libfoo=PATH. If the option is specified with a
PATH, only that PATH is searched for the library. If it is specified as
=yes or with no argument, it tries without modifying anything, and then
tries looking in /usr/local. The SunOS5 targets no longer add /usr/local to
include or library paths

SCO 3 / CVS version
Hi,
just to give you a quick "success" note: current portable CVS snapshot
builds mostly fine on SCO3. The only remaining problem is truncate() in
sftp-server.c - SCO3 can replace ftruncate() with chsize() (detected by
configure and works), but has no truncate() equivalent.
Run-time testing tomorrow, but I do not expect nasty surprises.
