Problems with PAM and PermitRootLogin without-password
Hello all, I was running some tests with openssh 3.7.1p2 and I noticed that PermitRootLogin without-password does not work when PAM is enabled. In fact, when PAM is enabled, PermitRootLogin will work as "yes" if " without-password" is used, no matter what kind of authentication is used for root login. Is that a bug, I missed something in the configurations, or expected

timeout
Hi I dont work much with syslinux and linux. But in my last test with pxelinux I woundert why the timout function is ignored by pxelinux. There is no hint in the documentation or in the web. I've figured out that the timout function doesn't work if the prompt setting is 0. timout 50 prompt 0 doesn't work I've tested it in versio 3.07, 3.06 and an "unknown" old

PXElinux and configs
I'm just wondering if there is an easy way to do this... My pxelinux.cfg/default is getting very long... and I'd like to make it shorter by spliting it up into sections which would load other config files. So basically I want to do something like the grub: "configfile (nd)/other.lst" Is there an easy way? -- Cheers Paul

[XCP] recompiling xapi rpm changes version and licensing details.
Hi there. I needed to recompile xapi to fix a bug that was resolved regarding vdi-create not setting the sharable flag. I used the sources provided in the source-1.iso from xen.org. Everything is good in this regard, and creating a vdi that has "sharable=true" is possible, but I had a problem that forced me to revert to the older copy of the xapi binary because my XCP box was now being

Restoring individual messages from a backup into a Maildir setup?
We have a user who deleted IMAP folders from his account, so I simply tried to restore the folder ".FolderName" from our backup. I checked that file/folder ownership was the same as the original, but the Dovecot IMAP server is throwing errors at the client. I've tried copying the individual message files from the "cur" folders in the backup directory, but Dovecot

AIX and openssh 3.7.1p2 with privsep
I am attempting to run openssh 3.7.1p2 with privsep on AIX 5.2 ML2 (with the december 2003 critical patches also). This was compiled on the host machine with the IBM Visual Age C compiler (C for AIX Compiler, Version 5). I did not have any trouble compiling. My configure was ./configure --with-tcp-wrappers, and I have the freeware tcp wrappers (freeware.tcp_wrappers.rte 7.6.1.5), and a compiled

I still have a Win98 SE CD and license that's not used any more. Does it make sense to install this on an extra partition and use it as the basis for a wine installation? Or copy everything from that partition to fake_windows? +----------------------+ Carl Weitz cmweitz@web.de +----------------------+ ____________________________________________________ Aufnehmen, abschicken, nah

Zoom?
Hi, folks, After I did a complete reinstall of current 7, with KDE instead of minimal, I'm mostly ok... except for Zoom. Has anyone gotten sound working with firefox? I get video, but it keeps claiming that my browser (the default firefox) can't access the system sound. Given that even as I type this, I'm streaming WUMB through its player.... I have noScript, but I

How might I -remove- a tree from a random forest?
I see the function "getTree", which is very interesting. As I'm trying to teach myself more and more about R, and dealing with lists, it occurred to me that it might be fun to remove (as in delete) a single tree from a forest...say to go from 500 to 499. I know, I know... "why?" Why, to play, of course! I've been doing a lot of reading on various tuning parameters,
