[Bug 397] Openssh build failure AIX 4.3.3
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2002-09-18 00:55 -------
Not sure about error 1, but error 2 has been fixed in -current (see bug #265).
As for error 3, the last time I built using the native compiler, I used "CC=xlc"
which worked; if possible try that.

Problem building OpenSSH-3.8p1 on AIX 4.2.1 and 4.3.3 systems
Dear Sirs,
just tried to compile openssh-3.8p1 on two IBM RS6000 boxes (models 390 and
F50) having AIX 4.2.1.0 and AIX 4.3.3.11 (all maintenance levels
applied). I use IBM 'XLC' compiler version 3.1 (xlC.C 3.1.4.0 with
xcC.rte 4.0.2.0 and xlC.aix43.rte 4.0.2.1). On both machines there was a
slight problem when compiling, because both <utmp.h> and <utmpx.h> files
were included,

Problem with XML package compilation on AIX
Hi,
I hope someone has seen this problem before. I am
trying to install the XML package from
http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/XML_0.95-6.tar.gz.
Using
> R CMD INSTALL XML_0.95-6.tar.gz
I get the following error message:
/usr/vac/bin/xlc_r -I/usr/local/lib/R/include -DLIBXML
-I/opt/freeware/include/libxml2

Pacaging/build issues with AIX and vac (dovecot-2.2.25)
Hi.
I finally decided it was really time to stop being lazy and really move
away from gmail. After I have a server in my basement using power, etc.
So I turned on the imap provided - and did not quite cry - it will have
to do for now, but imap2 is wanting.
A real server yes, but not Linux. (Using linux would require another
server AND I would feel I am being lazy again).
So, I downloaded

Building on AIX 5.1, 5.2
Hello all,
Has anyone built Samba 3.0.0 (or the 3.0.1pre1 release) on AIX 5.1 or 5.2
using the IBM VisualAge C/C++ 6.0 compilers? I am consistently seeing the
error:
"lib/system.c", line 1325.25: 1506-045 (S) Undeclared identifier ATTR_MAX_VALUELEN.
"lib/system.c", line 1325.25: 1506-195 (S) Integral constant expression with a value greater than zero is required.

IBM Power vs Markdown
Hi, folks.
I was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction.
Using R 3.3.3 (and later), on an IBM Power LPAR, Red Hat 7 PPC64le, markdown build fails as below.

problems compiling R on AIX5.1
Hello,
I'm trying to compile R (versions 1.6.0, 1.6.1, 1.6.2 and 1.7.0) on
our IBM Power3 Machine for an external user.
I always used to configure with
./configure --prefix=/scratch_tmp/harald/instala
I've never achieved to compile 1.7.0 because it seems that a file
called R.exp is missing (or maybe it's not well referenced on the
makefile).
Output of make:

Call for testing: OpenSSH 6.7
Tangentially related - the openssl quirks have me intrigued, so I'm going
to dive deeper into what's really required vs the quick hacks I did to get
the snapshots to build and pass tests.
Assuming I can find the time tomorrow, I plan on sitting down and figuring
out exactly what the openssl build requirements really are, but briefly on
the hosts I'm using this is what I've seen:

Call for testing: OpenSSH 6.7
So results of testing ...
Conditional caveats:
1) current snapshot will not build against native openssl on any system
with openssl version <0.9.8f (i.e RHEL <=6.4) ... requiring alternate
openssl installs .
2) openssl 1.0.1i on RHEL 4 and lower (gcc 2/3) only builds and tests
cleanly static libssl.a
and the current patched snapshot builds and tests to completion
against it just fine

Must have bolluxed something up in the compile environment - that or
http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/openssh-SNAP-20140828.tar.gz had a
configure tweak that fixed it. All systems tested now build and pass all
tests.
That said - the stupid race condition in that one test is cropping up
sporadically still - I think it's related to the load (or lack thereof) on
the VM host.
