[Bug 185] --with-ipv4-default breaks X11-forwarding on HP-UX 10.20
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185
------- Additional Comments From koenig at science-computing.de 2002-03-27 01:28 -------
I found a possible workaround for my problem: adding
X11UseLocalhost no
in sshd_conf for HP-UX 10.20 avoids the X11-forwarding problems.

treat output of sshrc as environment assignment lines?
Currently, ~/.ssh/environment can set static environment variables,
and ~/.ssh/rc can run initialization routines. But there is no way
for sshrc to propagate changes to the environment to the user's shell
or command.
There is, however, a possible way to do this. If the
PermitUserEnvironment option is set, sshd could treat the stdout of
sshrc as additional assignment lines of the form

X11 forwarding does not work as normal user
We installed openssh 3.1p1 on our Solaris 2.8 machine using gcc 2.95.2. During
the installation, we modified ssh_config and sshd_config to enable X11 and
agent forwarding.
In sshd_config, we changed the following line to read:
X11Forwarding yes
In ssh_config, we changed the following two lines to read:
ForwardAgent yes
ForwardX11 yes
Both files are set to permission readable

C6: ssh X-forwarding does not work
Hi all,
I have C6 i386 with cr repo enabled;
problem is, I can't get x-forwarding to work, xorg-x11-auth rpm is
installed, have checked sshd config for
#X11Forwarding no
X11Forwarding yes
#X11DisplayOffset 10
Here is a verbose ssh logon, I can't see any difference to a working server:
debug1: Authentication succeeded (password).
debug1: channel 0: new [client-session]

I am using the openssh-2.1.0p3-1 RPM, but i seem to have a similar
problem. the debug doesn't say anything about "X11 connection uses different
authentication protocol." it just kicks me out. I can't figure it out.
very strange.
please CC me, because i am not subscribed.
thanks,

X11UseLocalHost=no is the way to revert to prior behaviour.
from debug output your Xlib looks like it's trying to use
a shared memory transport, which won't work with ssh X11
forwarding.
if the client uses X11 R6 libs, it will usually work with

Problem with X tunneling, su, and xauth
Hi all.
I'm trying to use ssh to connect from a PC (using TerraTerm with the
ssh add-in) to a Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 box (both running OpenSSH
3.7.1p2) to establish a session for X-forwarding. Everything works
great, until I use "su" to change to another account (such as root).
The su'd user doesn't seem to be able to authenticate properly to use
the X-tunnel.
I did a

X11 forwarding under Linux
Hello, I have been having issues with x11 forwarding using my
linux-mandrake based servers. I checked my XAUTHORITY variable and it was
set to ~/.Xauthority ... After reading the mail archives, I found the
/tmp/ssh* directory created during my ssh session, and did this:
export XAUTHORITY="/tmp/ssh-hzuA1805/cookies"
xeyes
...and the X11 forwarding worked!
I'm using the
