Unrelated (was RE: so-called-hang-on-exit)
"ssh -n ..." means ssh will close stdin and open /dev/null for stdin. It does not mean losing th eoutput of ssh.

[Bug 273] sshd hangs on shell exit if user spawned child with/bin/nohup
Perhaps the man page should be fixed then, because neither
rsh nor rlogin provide any kind of port forwarding, or X11
forwarding, etc...
Also, the comparison between ssh and rsh is more appropriate
if you're talking about SSHv1 and much less so if you're
talking about SSHv2.

Hang when run via crond
Greetings,
I apologize if this has been answered before, but I have tried to do the
obligatory search and haven't found a clear answer.
Running OpenSSH 3.4 (well, pretty much any version) using protocol 2 and
run via crond we see the connection never "close", "end", or whatever
you wish to call it. This is running on a "modified" RedHat 6.2
machine. configure

"It is intended to replace rlogin and rsh, and provide secure encrypted
communications between two untrusted hosts over an insecure network."
I can agree that it is "more" than secure RSH, but if it plans to
replace it, shouldn't it have the same functionality?

How to overlay a global map on a filled contour?
I would like to plot some lat-lon data in a filled contour, and then
overlay a map of the globe on top. I am trying something like this:
filled.contour(lons, lats, glb.data,
plot.axes={axis(1);axis(2);map(projection='rectangular',parameters=0,add
=T)}
)
The filled contour plots fine, and the map shows up, but only as a very
tiny little black rectangle in a small area of the

Hei,

Thanks.

2.0.7: unsolicited oplock break reply
I've used
oplocks = no
for a long time now, because of the famous "oplock_break" error, but I
decided to give 2.0.7 a try.
I still get "oplock break" errors as before, but this time I got a new
error too:

multiple puppetmasters (w/ Passenger) behind load balancer
Hello Gang,
I''m working on scaling my puppet solution, and I''m deploying multiple
masters w/ passenger that are going sit behind a load balancer. If anyone
is using these type of setup, would you share how you deal with the SSL
certs? I''ve been following Bode''s Blog (http://bodepd.com/wordpress/?p=7),
and it''s not working to good for me.

OpenSSH Security Advisory: Trojaned Distribution Files
OpenSSH Security Advisory (adv.trojan)
1. Systems affected:
OpenSSH version 3.2.2p1, 3.4p1 and 3.4 have been trojaned on the
OpenBSD ftp server and potentially propagated via the normal mirroring
process to other ftp servers. The code was inserted some time between
the 30th and 31th of July. We replaced the trojaned files with their
originals at 7AM MDT, August 1st.

patch suggested for Solaris 7 cures samba2.0.5a/Sol2.6 hiccup
I installed and configured samba 2.0.5a on a rather unstable Sun box on
Thursday/Friday last week to link two NT cd writer machines to a filesystem
on the E4000. After a bit of wierdness regarding the usernames the NT
machines where offering to Samba, and some creative use of a username.map
file I got what they wanted set up. The users were happy and 5 minutes of
job satisfaction were achieved.

ANNOUNCE: edtdbg debugging tool
My edtdbg debugging tool is now on CRAN, at
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/edtdbg/index.html
I've added a few new commands since the last time I announced the
package here. I'll enclose command list at the end of this message.
Currently the package is implemented for Vim. I have a volunteer to
adapt it to Emacs, so I'm hopeful it will be usable for Emacs fans
later.

samba3.0.1.pre3 and samba3.0.1rc1
Dear Samba-Team,
I already wrote to Jeremy Allison an he told me to post my problem to you:
I have the following problem:
The smbd and winbindd start fine, everthing seems to be okay, all users can be authenticated.
But a few minutes later the winbindd is suddenly unable to authenticate some users against the Domain. You can see it in the snapshot. Messages like "Unable to initgroups"

Seemingly Unrelated Negative Binomial (SUNB) estimation
Dear all,
I am trying to estimate a system of equations with a Seemingly Unrelated
Regression. However because of the characteristics of the data I'd like to
do it with a negative binomial estimation. Would anybody know how to
implement a Seemingly Unrelated Negative Binomial (SUNB) estimation in R?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Elisa Lanzi

Nonlinear Seemingly Unrelated Regression
Hello to everyone,
I found some problems using R in the estimation of systems of nonlinear
equations
like SURE (Seemingly Unrelated Regression Equations) with mutual
parameters as the following system example:
EQ1 PQ1=P1*G1+B1*(Y-P1*G1-P2*G2-P3*G3)
EQ2 PQ2=P2*G2+B2*(Y-P1*G1-P2*G2-P3*G3)
where G1,G2,G3,B1,B2 are the coefficients to estimate.

File size and graphics from com32 modules (unrelated)
Hi,
I'm working on a com32 module in which I need to get some file size.
The only way I found was to include the "lib/sys/file.h" header file and get the
i.length field from the file_info structure (once a file descriptor is open).
I understand that this structure is internal to the Com32 file I/O
implementation and should
not be accessed from com32 modules. So is there a

repacketizing unrelated frames
Hi Marc,
I recommend you have a look at the multistream API and how we use it for
surround in the Ogg Opus draft. Sounds like the best way to solve your
problem.
Cheers,

password_query, user_query and unrelated userid and emails
Let's say one has a SQL table with following fields for John Doe:
login: u0007
password: {SHA1}...
mailhome: /path/to/joeshome
email: john.doe at example.com
To log in, for internal policy reasons, John MUST make use of his userid "u0007".
So, in the password_query, one would need something like:
... WHERE login = '%u' ...
On the other hand, for receiving mail thru
