openssh-2.9.9p2 subscript violation problems with ctype macros
In several places, openssh-2.9.9p2 passes a 'char' value to a ctype macro like 'isdigit'. This has undefined behavior on hosts with signed characters, if the character value happens to be negative. For example, isdigit('\200') expands to an array access that is a subscript error on hosts with signed characters where '\200' == -128. This leads to incorrect results,

Call for testing: OpenSSH-5.6
Hi, OpenSSH 5.6 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing on as many platforms and systems as possible. This is a moderately large release, with a number of new features and bug fixes. Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/ The OpenBSD version is available in CVS HEAD: http://www.openbsd.org/anoncvs.html Portable OpenSSH

Non-standard conformant usage of ctype functions
Hi, Per the definitions of the ctype functions in POSIX-1.2008 "the c argument is an int, the value of which the application shall ensure is a character representable as an unsigned char or equal to the value of the macro EOF. If the argument has any other value, the behavior is undefined." For obvious reasons this results in problems if you use signed char variables as parameters in

Effect of the R framework on ctype.c
Dear all, I'm facing a strange behavior in the the C code of a R package. This package, "rcqp", is a wrapper on an existing program that I did not write, "CWB". In this package, on a linux (ubuntu and debian) system, the code : printf(%d\n", isupper('A')); outputs : 0 When compiled with the R framework (It behaves correctly when CWB is compiled as a

`_POSIX_VDISABLE' undeclared
Dear developpers, I'm using OpenSSH_2.9p1 with prngd on my Sony NEWS-OS 4.2.1R. NEWS-OS 4.x is based on 4.3BSD and lack of many POSIX and ANSI features. Today I tried to make the latest openssh_cvs and got the following error, gcc -g -O2 -Wall -O -I. -I.. -I. -I./.. -I/usr/local/ssl/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -c readpassphrase.c readpassphrase.c: In function `readpassphrase':

[PATCH] fix off-by-one correction in ctypes
Me again, Here's a patch to fix ctypes. There was an off-by-one correction that looks like it isn't needed. Boundary conditions and single-entry items, like isspace(), now work for me. mh -- Martin Hicks Wild Open Source Inc. mort@wildopensource.com 613-266-2296 # This is a BitKeeper generated patch for the following project: # Project Name: The kernel C library

Feature request: FQDN Host match
Hello! I'm hoping that Gmail won't HTML format this mail so that I'll get flamed :) Anyway, my question relates to ssh_config. The problem I find is that the Host pattern is only applied to the argument given on the command line, as outlined in the man page: "The host is the hostname argument given on the command line (i.e. the name is not converted to a canonicalized host name

New password echoes on Sol8
I tried replacing readpassphrase() for v2.9.9p2 on Sol8 with a different version that just calls getpassphrase(). It appears to solve the echo problem when the user tries to login in interactive mode and needs to change their password. Can anyone else try this with v2.9.9p2 on Solaris? Be sure to add: #define HAVE_GETPASSPHRASE ... to config.h when compiling (since it's not a configurable

pseudo code
Hey there! I got a pseudo code and don't know how to apply it to R, maybe someone can help me: Input: A dataset X, kmax: maximum number of clusters, num_subsamples: number of subsamples. Output: S(i; k) - a distribution of similarities between partitions into k clusters of a reference clustering and clustering of subsamples; i = 1 to num_subsamples Requires: T = cluster(X): A hierarchical

[PATCH] Use canonical hostname for DNS SSHFP lookup
In the current implementation, ssh always uses the hostname supplied by the user directly for the SSHFP DNS record lookup. This causes problems when using the domain search path, e.g. I have "search example.com" in my resolv.conf and then do a "ssh host", I will connect to host.example.com, but ssh will query the DNS for an SSHFP record of "host.", not

configure.in fixes for 2.9.9p2
configure.in patches for 2.9.9p2: 1. Allow --with-pcre to take a path specifying the root of the PCRE install (ROOT/include, ROOT/lib) 2. Ditto for --with-zlib 3. $no_libnsl and $no_libsocket can be determined programmatically 4. Check for innetgr, getspnam, and util in the default $LIBS before checking in -lrpc, -lgen, and -lutil, respectively 5. dirname() is in -lgen on some

Clang -O0 performs optimizations that undermine dynamic bug-finding tools
Hi everyone, I found that Clang -O0 performs optimizations that undermine dynamic bug-finding tools. First, most bug finding tools such as ASan, Valgrind, Dr. Memory, Mudflap, Purify and Safe Sulong (on which I am working) rely on detecting errors during the execution of the program. They either insert additional checks during compile-time or during run-time which are executed when the program

NeXT Community
I need someone in the NeXT community to apply this to 3.5 and tell me if it solves the mmap issue where it misdetects a working mmap(). My NeXT box is packed up. If you know anyone in Minnesota that wants a 68k-25mhz Slab w/ 2 B&W monitors, 2 keyboards, 2 mice, NeXT printer and OS. Have them email me. I won't ship it, but I have no more time to be handling an OS this old. =) I have no

Instruction itineraries and fence/barrier instructions
We improved our instruction itineraries and now we're seeing our testcases for fence instructions break. For example, we have this testcase: @write_me = external global i32 @read_me = external global i32 ; Function Attrs: nounwind define i32 @xstg_intrinsic(i32 %foo) #0 { entry: ; CHECK: store r0, r1, 0, 32 ; CHECK-NEXT: fence 2 %foo.addr = alloca i32, align 4 store i32 %foo,

Strange read_passphrase behaviour ?
Hi, I'm sorry if this has already come up on the list, I did a quick search of the archive and didn't notice it. I noticed IMHO strange behavior in read_passphrase: If readpassphrase returns NULL and sets errno to ENOTTY, then read_passphrase returns an empty passphrase to the caller instead of error, now what happens with password authentication is that if readpassphrase fails every

[PATCH 0/2] Cygwin: allow user and group case-insensitive Unicode strings
Windows usernames are case-insensitive and almost any Unicode character is allowed in a username. The user should be able to login with her username given in any case and not be refused. However, this opens up a security problem in terms of the sshd_config Match rules. The match rules for user and group names have to operate case-insensitive as well, otherwise the user can override her settings

Build errors on AIX 4.2.1: nanosleep
Hi All. There are still build errors for scp on AIX 4.2.1 due to lack of nanosleep (which you can see them live and in colour at [1]). The attached patch fixes this by using the equivalent nsleep function on AIX if it exists and nanosleep doesn't. The patch is mostly the same as the AIX portion of the previous patch for the nanosleep issue, the major difference being that the #define is in
