Trouble with asterisk-users mailman
I'm trying this again because the last attempt didn't go through (thus
more or less proving one of the below to be true.)

-u updating too liberally
Hey ho.
I apologize for what must be a stupid question, but I couldn't find
any relevant posts in the archives.
I want a daily backup of my home directory to another machine.
Because I never delete any file, no matter how bloody useless, my home
directory is inordinately large. So, it is important that I only back
up those files that really need to be backed up.
Here is the command I have

Mitel 5224/SIP no MWI
Does anybody know if this is supposed to work and if so, what, if
any, workaround is needed? I have other phones (Snom, Polycom) MWI
working with this system fine. 6.0.0.19 (latest) Mitel SIP firmware
is loaded.
Thanks for your time,

Reconfiguring wide frame to long frame
Greetings, fellow R'ers.
How can I get this frame in R:
ID meas ID.1 meas.1
1 1.1 3 1.2
2 2.1 4 2.2
to look like this (stacking):
ID meas
1 1.1
2 2.1
3 1.2
4 2.2
It's not really the reshape function (or is it?) because we can consider
the additional columns, viz., ID.1 and meas.1, as independent of ID and
meas so it is basically a stacking

Testing this significance of a factor in a mixed-model "ANCOVA"
R-users -
I must preface this question by saying that I'm a relative newbie to
both R and mixed-modeling.
I'm using lme fit an ANCOVA-like model. My data consist of bone
length measurements for a developmental series of two capuchin monkey
species. I'm interested in whether the rate of bone length scaling
to body mass (i.e., growth) differs between species.
My call to lme

Samba Won't Work
I tried to get Samba running on my new Trustix installation all day
yesterday with no luck. I'm a newbie, so there's a lot I don't know yet.
At any rate, I have the Smb, nmbd, and smbd services running. I've got my
smb.conf file set up properly from what I can tell. When I try the following
command on my Linux box:
smbclient //192.168.1.102/backup -U jesse
I get the error,

underscores ($name_$foo) in string assignments
Hello
In a component, I was trying to do:
$bar = "lets make a new string with $name_$foo in it."
however the "$name_" fails to appear in the resulting string:
"lets make a new string with valueOfFoo in it."
Is there something special about $name_ here?
If I replace the underscore with a dash (... $name-$foo ... ) it
works fine.
thanks

looping using combinatorics
I have a problem where I need to loop over the total combinations of
vectors (combined once chosen via combinatorics). Here is a
simplification of the problem:
STEP 1: Define three vectors a, b, c.
STEP 2: Combine all possible pairwise vectors (i.e., 3 choose 2 = 3
possible pairs of vectors: ab,ac, bc)
NOTE: the actual problem has 8 choose 4, 8 choose 5 and 8 choose 6
combinations.

Pregunta sobre rLandsat
Hola Ángel:
Yo creo que tendrías que establecer el sistema de coordenadas de
referencia de tu objeto raster antes de salvarlo como GTiff. Algo así:
crs(r1) <-"+proj=utm +zone=14 +datum=WGS84"
Saludos,
Marcelino.

help: combine multiple 'pairs plots'
I would like to combine multiple pairs plots (each one being a matrix of
correlation plots) into a single graphic. I have tried the par()
function, which works well to combine several simple graphs. However,
the pairs() graph seems to override the par() function and produce an
new plot, rather than combining the plots into a single graphic.
Thanks,

cvs export on puppetmaster box
Hello
I am thinking that it is better to do a cvs export of a project once,
on the puppetmaster box, rather than do the same cvs export on all
puppet clients, yes?
If so, how does one do this? Do you run puppetd on the same box as
puppetmasterd and set up the cvs export as an exec for only the node
with the same hostname as the puppetmaster?
Thanks

[PATCH for-2.6.35] virtio-pci: disable msi at startup
virtio-pci resets the device at startup by writing to the status
register, but this does not clear the pci config space,
specifically msi enable status which affects register
layout.
This breaks things like kdump when they try to use e.g. virtio-blk.
Fix by forcing msi off at startup. Since pci.c already has
a routine to do this, we export and use it instead of duplicating code.
