Book recommendation for newbie to stats and R?
I'm trying to learn statistics and R at the same time. I have an
undergraduate science degree and one year of calculus (30 years ago),
but never took a stats course. I hope to take some stats courses in the
next year, but thought I would start to see how much I could teach
myself.

Newbie: Selecting data
I've been working with R for all of about 8 hours, so anyone with more
experience than this should be able to help me. General comments about
my methods of work are also welcomed.

Compiling openssh v6.5 with --with-ssl-dir not working
Hello,
I am trying to compile openssh v6.5p1 with openssl-1.0.1f and it doesn't seem to find
my custom openssl libraries and defaults to the system version. This has been working on all
previous openssh version until v6.5. Is this a bug ? More details below:

Learning to do randomized block design analysis
We just studied randomized block design analysis in my statistics class,
and I'm trying to learn how to do them in R. I'm trying to duplicate a
case study example from my textbook [1]:

Newbie help with Sweave
I think I've gotten my Emacs/Sweave/R system set up correctly, thanks to
Vincent and Jim, but I haven't been successful getting my first document
produced. I'm trying to use one of Friedrich Leisch's examples,
http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~leisch/Sweave/example-1.Snw. I cut and
pasted the text into a document sweaveexample.Rnw in Emacs. It seemed to
be processed successfully with R:

Testing compiler reliability using Csmith
Hello everyone!
We are working on writing a paper about testing the reliability of C compilers by using Csmith (a random C99 program generator).
A previous testing effort, using Csmith, found 202 LLVM bugs, which represented 2% of all reported bugs at that time (PDF: https://www.flux.utah.edu/download?uid=114 <https://www.flux.utah.edu/download?uid=114>): . However, after this paper was

[RFC master-2.2 0/1] Support OpenSSL 1.1 API for setting allowed TLS versions
Hi,
I came up with the following patch while trying to figure out a good solution
for the situation described in Debian bug #871987[1]. In short, OpenSSL in
Debian unstable has disabled TLSv1.0 and TLSv1.1 *by default*. That means that
unless an application requests otherwise, only TLSv1.2 is supported. In the
world of e-mail this is seemingly an issue, as there are still way too many old
clients
