Puzzled about PAM support in OpenSSH-3.7.1p2
I'm trying to understand the code around PAM support in auth2.c and auth2-chall.c. I'm working with the OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 sources on FreeBSD 4.x. The scenario I'm trying to make work is SSH login to a captive accout for users in a RADIUS database but whose login does not appear in /etc/passwd or getpwnam(). I understand that if the username is not found in getpwnam(), then the

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Sorry, I did not start the glusterfsd on the node I was shutting yesterday and now killed another one during FUSE test, so it had to crash immediately (only one of three nodes were actually up). This definitely happened for the first time (only one node had been killed yesterday). Using FUSE seems to be OK with replica 3. So this can be gfapi related or maybe rather libvirt related. I tried

problem to keep X11 forwarding
Dear people, since openssh-3.8.1p1 I experience problems with the automatic X11 forwarding. I installed openssh-3.9p1 yesterday hoping the problems should disappear, but alas no. It looks like the X11 autorization times out after some time, I don't know exactly but after half an hour it surely is gone. When I installed openssh-3.8.1p1 I also had opgraded openssl from 0.9.7c to 0.9.7d then,

An app stopped working after upgrading wine
Hi! I have a problem with current wine (from CVS). An application, Dynatext DOC browser from EBT, stopped working. It just opens a dialog box saying that the DYNATEXT.INI file was not found and that it has to be either in the windows directory or in the Dynatext directory. I verified it and it really is in the Dynatext directory, as it used to always be, it's readable and its contents is OK.

Sharding option for distributed volumes
Hello Ji-Hyeon, Thanks, is that option available in 3.12 gluster release? because we're still on 3.8 and just playing around latest version in order to have our solution migrated. Thank you! 9/21/17 2:26 PM, Ji-Hyeon Gim ?????: > Hello Pavel! > > In my opinion, you need to check features.shard-block-size option first. > If a file nobigger than this value, it would not be

Stopping to say "thanx" ...
I'll try to keep this short (yeah right! ;-). Being primarily a user, I find myself bitching, analyzing and complaining about things I don't stop to understand half the time. I've done more than may share in this regard the various filesystems over the years. I've done a few LUG and tradeshow presentations over the past year, trying to inform different peer admins what Linux JFS

DoS Attack
Yesterday, I had a DoS attack on a php/mysql webpage which uses a lot of resources. I have learned today, as a for instance, in the last hour, about 3000 requests for that page were made by 610 different servers, mostly from 'odd' places... China, Russia, Poland, Turkey... the usual suspects from my experience. The bottom line is this... I hit server loads of 142 yesterday!!! And the

Question, problems re: Ogg Vorbis ..
I think Ogg Vorbis is an awesome project. I just started working with beta 4 yesterday and was very impressed .. I'm going to do some listening tests today. I had a question and some problems I'm hoping people can help me out with. 1.) Is the ability coming to convert from .MP3 to Ogg Vorbis forthcoming? How would the sound quality be affected when converting from one compressed audio

RFC: Adding "minidump" support to obj2yaml
Hello all, yesterday I sent an email <http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/lldb-dev/2019-March/014811.html> to lldb-dev proposing a new tool in lldb for yamlization of minidump files. It's been suggested to me that instead of a new tool it may be better to add support for that format to obj2yaml instead. Hence, this email. :) As I expect most people are unfamiliar with this format, I'm

OpenSSH rocks! OK, you know that already, but I just wanted to say it...
Greetings, For a while I've been pondering how to enable the business owner of my former employer (whose network I established and maintained before I left) to have webmail access to his email. The internal mail server is an old MacOS X 10.4 Tiger server protected behind an OpenBSD gateway (naturally). I commissioned it many years ago before hosted mail services were as cheap and competent as

[LLVMdev] Compiling FreeBSD kernels with LLVM 2.3-pre
Hello everyone, Since yesterday I've been toying around with LLVM on my FreeBSD box at the office. As an ideal test I tried to compile a FreeBSD kernel. I've just sent the following message to the FreeBSD Hackers list, which contains some stats on compile time, binary size, etc. Links: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-hackers/2008-May/024600.html

arecord pipe to celtenc just stops
Hi all, Just found out about this codec and I'm really impressed. I compiled celt-0.5.2.tar.gz on my desktop and tried out a few tests. I then did a native fixed point arm compile on my beagleboard which also worked a treat. Before I get started with the library I was trying to see if I could grab some real time audio, encode it and write to a file using arecord in conjunction with

*** High Praise for ZFS and NFS services ***
Dear ZFS and OpenSolaris people : I recently upgraded a large NFS server upwards from Solaris 8. This is a production manufacturing facility with football field sized factory floors and 25 tonne steel products. Many on-site engineers on AIX and CATIA as well as Solaris users and Windows and everything you can shake a stick at. Everything in this place must rest in central storage that is

preliminary Speex support in Sweep
Hi Jean-Marc and others, I put Speex support in Sweep (a sound editor) yesterday, and had some fun with it :) I'd like to get some feedback before releasing it publically. I'm not really used to speech codecs (I work more with music) but I've been quite impressed at the file size and quality (especially when you hear what I did with some of the sample files ;) I didn't have any
