rsync 3.0.2 with --fileflags on FreeBSD: cannot rsync hardlinked immutable files
Hi *,
it seems rsync with --fileflags isn't able to work on (already)
hardlinked and immutable ("schg") files on FreeBSD. The following
scripts will create a simple example for this behaviour:
--------------------------------------------------------------
#! /bin/sh
#
#
set -x
DIR="/var/tmp/rsync_$(date +%s)/"
mkdir "${DIR}/"
# Preparing dir_A

how to take least risk on rsync dir
Hello list,
When rsync dir_A to dir_B, I hope I wont make any change to the original
dir_B unless the rsync procedure end withour errors, therefore, I hope
there's somethig like
rsync -av dir_A dir_B_tmp && \
mv dir_B dir_B.bkup &&
mv dir_B_tmp dir_B
This small script can ensure the minimal change time between 2 versions
of archive. Is this built in the native rsync

External pointers and changing SEXPTYPE
Dear Developers,
I've been struggling through writing R extension in C. I've been using
an external pointer to store my data (please see sample below). I
encountered a very weird erroneous behaviour: when I tried to use my
external pointer to a structure holding several types of data,
including SEXPs, I discovered that SEXPs change their types between
returning from initialization

OpenSSH port to ReliantUNIX
Hi all,
I just managed to get OpenSSH working on ReliantUNIX, which is the SVR4-
compatible UNIX from Fujitsu-Siemens (formerly known as SNI).
Patch is attached. Up to now I do not know why it does not work with
IP_TOS, but I needed to switch it off. Anyway: it works here in our lab
without any problems.
Many thanks for OpenSSH and best regards.
Udo

After upgrading to 1.9.17p1 (Solaris 2.5.1) I am getting
continuous errors like the following. I have numerous
samba servers, one of which is configured as a wins server,
2 winNT servers (primary and backup, but not running as
wins servers). These messages are constant, even on this
Sunday night with virtually no network activity.

[PATCH] some patches for Fujitsu-Siemens ReliantUNIX, minor fixes and XXXes
Hi,
attached please find some patches for ReliantUNIX. This was tested under
Reliant UNIX V5.43C40 with Compiler CDSDEV V2.0C00.
Here is what I did:
- there is a common misunderstanding how to use /usr/libucb/libucb.a:
There are some library functions only in libucb.a under ReliantUNIX, so
one needs to bind it. The problem is: there are some other functions in
this library you should never

Grouping columns
*Hi @ all,
I have a question concerning the possibilty of grouping the columns of a
matrix.
R groups the columns alphabetically.
What can I do to group the columns in my specifications?
The script is the following:*

>
> #Quelldatei einlesen
> b<-read.csv2("Z:/int/xyz.csv", header=TRUE)

Estimating variance components of groups of covariates within regression model
I am interested in estimating the variance components from different groups of
variables in a linear regression.
For example, I want to model dependent variable ?Y? based on six covariates as
follows: (these are land use types measured at three scales for each Y,
"Local", "Riparian", and "Catchment" - these are not nested as there is a
unique area for each Y -

Plotting of regsubsets adjr2 values not correct
Hi,
I want to make model selection with regsubsets. My code is:
a<-regsubsets(Gesamt ~ CommunistSocialist + CountrySize + GNI + Lifeexp +
Schoolyears + ExpMilitary + Mortality +
PopPoverty + PopTotal + ExpEdu + ExpHealth, data=olympiadaten, nbest=2)
summary(a)
plot(a,scale="adjr2")
(output attached)
The problem is now, that I want to fit the best model again "manually"

Application construction issue (conceptual)
I was wondering if someone can give me some assistance in approaching this
issue:
First, the background: I have an app that i originally did in PHP that I''m
redoing in Rails. It can be used by multiple clients that have no relation
to each other. The client information is in a database and is determined by
the hostname. Clients then have several users related by client_id. The

Regsubsets model selection
Hi,
I have 12 independent variables and one dependent variable. Now I want to
select the best adj. R squared model by using the regsubsets command, so I

+ Schoolyears + ExpMilitary + Mortality +
+ PopPoverty + PopTotal + ExpEdu + ExpHealth, data=olympiadaten, nbest=1,

Consulting request R training and programming
Hello everybody,
first I would like to apologize my consulting request on this help list but I couldn't find any ressources about consulties on the net.
In our company we are searching on alternatives to SPSS and after a very short test, R could satisfy our needs completly.
Unfortunately we are not able to cover all required features, like a little more sophisticated tabularization, an
