alignment problem in monitor_fdpass.c
Hi, After FreeBSD changed from using -O2 to using -O on their ARM port, I found that sshd stopped working. (gcc version 4.2.1 20070719 [FreeBSD]) I have downloaded openssh-SNAP-20080220.tar.gz and the code still look the same. Anyway looking into it, I found that the problem is in monitor_fdpass.c in the functions mm_send_fd and mm_receive_fd. Using -O2 used to align the tmp array on a 4 byte

OpenSSH 3.4p1 - compilation problem on Linux
Hello openssh-unix-dev, Some time ago I successfully compiled version 3.1 of OpenSSH. Today I tried new OpenSSH version and I am not able to compile it. Configuration script runned well. When running make, following error occured: make[1]: Entering directory `/tools/openssh-3.4p1/openbsd-compat' make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'. make[1]: Leaving directory

OpenSSH 3.2.3p1 won't compile under IRIX 6.5.14
Previously 3.2.2 would not compile under Solaris, then 3.2.3 came out with a bug fix for the problem. Now 3.2.3 won't compile under IRIX 6.5.14. I've tried using both gcc 3.0.1 and the IRIX MIPSpro 7.1 compilers. I've been compiling previous versions of OpenSSH for years using these same compilers (we haven't updated the MIPSpro compiler for 3 years, and I've been using it on

HPUX and privsep
Subject: HPUX and privsep Anyone solved or see the same connection I do with these two issues on HPUX if Privilege Separation is turned off ? Logname not found (3.7.1p2, 3.8.1p1) Login prematurely quits during session setup (mm_send_fd: sendmsg(3): Bad file number | mm_receive_fd: recvmsg: expected received 1 got 0) (3.8.1p1) Seems the mm_xxxx_() functions arent called when PrivSep is off.

OpenSSH 5.1: call for testing
Hi, OpenSSH 5.1 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing on as many platforms and systems as possible. This release is one of the biggest in recent years, with two hackathons' worth of improvements and fixes for some of our most recalcitrant bugs. Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/ The OpenBSD version is

Question regarding alignment patch
Contrast http://cvsweb.mindrot.org/index.cgi/openssh/monitor_fdpass.c?r1=1.23;r2=1.24 with http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/usr.bin/ssh/monitor_fdpass.c.diff?r1=1.14&r2=1.15 The original replaces cmsgbuf.tmp with cmsgbuf.buf, while the -portable version *adds* cmsgbuf.buf but retains cmsgbuf.tmp. I assume this was an oversight, and cmsgbuf.tmp should be removed? DES -- Dag-Erling

[PATCH] PAM chauthtok + Privsep
Hello All. Attached is an update to my previous patch to make do_pam_chauthtok and privsep play nicely together. First, a question: does anybody care about these or the password expiration patches? Anyway, the "PRIVSEP(do_pam_hauthtok())" has been moved to just after the pty has been allocated but before it's made the controlling tty. This allows the child running chauthtok to

OpenSSH_4.3p2 fails to create a pty session
I am out of ideas about what the problem is. I am using the default sshd_config installed by the port. I can authenticate, copy files, and start processes, but sshd fails to create a tty session. This happens from remote machines and creating a session from the host machine. I find the following under messages. Aug 8 19:32:16 mongoloid sshd[44626]: fatal: mm_send_fd: sendmsg(4): Bad

make fails during linking
Hi OpenSSH developers LINUX, i586, libc5, kernel 2.0.39, gcc 2.7.2.3, OpenSSH 3.3p1 source First I tried just 'configure' and then 'make' but that gave the same error message as given below. Next I tried to explicitly tell the 'configure' process where zlib 1.1.4 and openssl 0.9.6d are installed. configure --with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/ssl --with-zlib=/usr/local results

Problem with openssh on linux 2.0.34 mips
Hi I tried to compile openssh 3.3p1 on a linux 2.0.34 mips system. First I was not able to compile it at all, but then I added the following line to monitor_fdpass.c #define SCM_RIGHTS 0x01 Then it compiled fine, but I am not able to log in. After having entered the password I get the following message in the logfile: Jun 25 20:25:46 raq2 sshd[16129]: fatal: mm_receive_fd: expected type 1 got

[PATCH] Password expiry with Privsep and PAM
Hi All. Attached is a patch that implements password expiry with PAM and privsep. It works by passing a descriptor to the tty to the monitor, which sets up a child with that tty as stdin/stdout/stderr, then runs chauthtok(). No setuid helpers. I used some parts of Michael Steffens' patch (bugid #423) to make it work on HP-UX. It's still rough but it works. Tested on Solaris 8 and

Problem building OpenSSH on Cobalt Raq2i running standard Linux
Hi everyone, I'm trying to build OpenSSH on my Cobalt Raq2i box which is running the standard Linux installation with all patches installed. I had no problems building OpenSSL v0.9.7b and it installed without problems as well. However, the OpenSSH build keeps failing at a certain point: gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I. -I/usr/local/ssl/include
