scsi tape device support
I'm trying to get a scsi tape device (Sony SDX-D500V) working on my dell 2450 running centos 4.2. I can see the device (ch1, id2) using the dell bois raid utility, but once booted into linux I can't see any mention of it in the logs or dmesg. Do you know if the generic kernel (2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp) supports this tape device? Can anyone give me any pointers in getting this device working.

tuning gluster performance vs. nfs
I have been tweaking and researching for a while now and can't seem to get "good" performance out of Gluster. I'm using Gluster to replace an NFS server (c1.xlarge) that serves files to an array of web servers, all in EC2. In my tests Gluster is significantly slower than NFS on average. I'm using a distributed replicated volume on two (m1.large) bricks: Volume Name: ebs

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Zarafa is not on the same server as Samba We only have 2 AD/DC Samba 4.5 (CentOS 7) and we put required indexes on LDAP . Arround 1000 mailboxes but not all are simultaneously in use (approx 1/3 in use). MTA is postfix (and is still connected to Samba AD, this one is not causing the issue). As a workarround, we currently deployed a synchronization connector from AD to OpenLDAP. It solves the

Performance Tuning advice [tracked down]

I may look into No - Linux. :-) Becker's tulip.c was the one distributed with Linux kernel (not the one from Becker's web) and it was dropping packets massively probably due to missing PCI kludge

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Thank you for your message Andrew. Then .. Waiting for this improvement... :-) Indexes seem correct to me. But I'm not sure at 100% because I cannot find clear explanation regarding the searchFlags attribute value .. 1, 2, ... ? Maybe you have one ? [Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Hi,   I talked to Zarafa (Kopano now) support and they acknowledge that their product in combination with Samba does not scale welland is only suitable for what they call smaller setups.     Met Vriendelijke Groet, Kind Regards, Salutations,     Bart Coninckx Bits 'n Tricks BVBA   Hoge Mierdse Heide 182 2360 Oud-Turnhout tel. +32 14 480 820 gsm +32 478 88 33 08 info at bitsandtricks.com

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
No, you have to do that manualy, or look the the samba4 ADS script for kopano ( or zarafa ) But I mostly follow the documentation.   And when i run : time ldbsearch -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb -s base -b @INDEXLIST .... real    0m0.230s user    0m0.184s sys     0m0.044s   so if yours take more that 20 sec there is something very wrong. I suggest check you samba AD database and

Apache Server Tuning for Performance
Hi all, I am facing facing performance issues with our web servers which is working for concurrent 250 requests properly and then stops responding when the requests are more than 250 . Performance tuning questions for mail server
Hi, I have a fedora15 x86_64 host with one fedora15 guest running amavis+spamassassin+postfix and performance is horrible. The host is a quad-core E13240 with 16GB and 3 1TB Seagate ST31000524NS and all partitions are ext4. I've allocated 4 processors and 8GB of RAM to this guest. I really hoped someone could help me identify areas in which performance can be improved at both the guest and

GFS performance issue
Two web servers, both virtualized with CentOS Xen servers as host (residing on two different physical servers). GFS used to store home directories containing web document roots. Shared block device used by GFS is an ISCSI target with the ISCSI initiator residing on the Dom-0, and presented to Dom-U webservers as drives. Also, providing a second shared block device for quorum disk. If I hit the

Performance tuning of Samba4.1 LDAP CRUD operations
Hi, I would like to accelerate CURD operation of LDAP. Please let me know a tuning setup of OS or Samba. Although I am performing shift verification to Samba 4.1.12 from OpenLDAP 2.3, the CURD operation using a LDAP interface becomes 1/10 or less speed compared with OpenLDAP. Although this OpenLDAP is performing an optimized tuning setup, Samba is in the default state immediately after carrying

Performance Tuning Mysql and how mongrel is effected
As a follow up from my previous post, I am pondering some changes to my env. I read that with AR I should change the verification timeout to be lower than the MySQL db Interactive_timeout. Now, I have done some performancing tuning to mysql in LAMP env''s but not RoR. MySQL typical set the default interactive_timeout to 8hrs (28800) this has bitten me a few times with sleeping processess

Samba performance tuning & benchmarks
Hi all. Many KUDOS to the Samba development team! I am trying to interpret some performance testing results, and could use some hela, and any possible Samba tuning suggestions. Oplocks are turned on, BTW, which has caused the Samba performance results to come WAY up compared to with prior Samba releases. The following test results consist of the time to perform database queries using a Borland

Performance Tuning Recommendations for Dovecot
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has some performance tuning recommendations for Dovecot. We are currently building a series of department e-mail/imap servers and we will be replacing our central core in the coming summer. The department servers are relatively small 100-200 users and the central server is modest - around 7000 accounts. They will be using local filesystem or SAN for the
