Structural TS and recursive estimation
Hello everyone,
Since my question is quite theorical, I am not sure whether it is the right
place to ask, but anyway...
I am working on time series and I looked at some way to fit my data through
arima models.
Since these data are updated frequently, I was looking at a way to update
the model "on line" (to get a kind of recursive estimation)
So the next step was to express the arima

Can't get 3.1p1 to compile under Solaris 8
OK, I feel like an idiot, but I can't get 3.1p1 to compile under Solaris
8.
Older versions I've gotten set up, but can't with this latest one.
I have followed both the general directions and the directions in
contrib/solaris, and neither one works. Since I have Solaris, here's
the output from the directions in contrib/solaris...
./configure --with-pam

buildpkg.sh enhancements
I've made some changes to buildpkg.sh to make it easier for package
builders to add their local changes.
I'd like people that use buildpkg.sh to test and comment on these
changes before I commit them to CVS.
None of the defaults have changed.
Some of the patch is is just moving chunks of code to a different
location to make some of the enhancements work.
Some things you may find

New users not visible within webmin
I have recently upgraded samba to 3.6.23-9.el5_11 and have noticed all
new users created can not be seen with using the samba config tool
within CentOS or within the samba webmin module.
I can manually log in and look the account information within the
smbpasswd file and can query it using pdbedit.
I need to be able to edit this information from within the webmin module

Update to solaris package creation
Can someone else from the Solaris realm that uses our package system
verify that this should be done? It looks right, but I want
another opinion before commiting.

Solaris packaging of rsync - script comes here
Hello everybody,
I have written a shell script that makes the building
of a Solaris package of rsync easier. Because I think it is useful
for other Solaris user, I wold be very happy, if somebody
would include it to the source tree.
There is one little things to do:
- include it in the auto-configuration process, so that the
version number will be set correctly.
So far,
Jens

makepkg.sh for samba 3.0.20
Hi,
I downloaded 3.0.20 from samba.org, ran makepkg.sh to create
samba pkg for Solaris. The install base for the new version
locates in /opt/samba and the smbd locates in /etc/samba.
I tried to modify the makepkg.sh to put everything under
/usr/local/samba as follow:

Hello,
I sent the mail below a few days ago to the icecast user discussion and

better place for problems of this kind?

Memory profiling/benchmarking
Hi,
As a project for a computer performance analysis paper I am taking this semester,
I am going to look at the performance of the memory manager in R, with the aim of
determining how fast it is and which areas most need improvement. The idea is
that I will compare various versions of R, starting with 0.64.2, and then at a
few stages in the implementation of the new memory management scheme (of
