Strange problem from "identical" hosts
Long post.. sorry. Ok.. I've got three systems, all running openssh-3.0.2p1. As a matter of fact, they were installed from the same built tree, so I know they are the same. Here's the deal. I've got three systems, call them source1, source2 and target. All are HP-UX 11.0 systems installed from the same tree. Source1 and source2 both have thier root rsa pub keys in target's

known_hosts, IP, and port revisited
I dug through the list archives to see if this had come up before, and I see that a bug <http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393> was submitted and subsequently closed (basically rejected) in 2002. The basic issue, for those of you who don't feel like following the bug URL, is that when one has ssh servers behind a NAT, each of which responds to a different port on the NAT IP,

known_hosts and multiple hosts through a NAT router
The .ssh/known_hosts table cannot handle reaching different sshd servers behind a NAT router. The machines are selected by having the SSHDs respond to differnt ports. A second request would be to allow known_hosts checking solely on the dns name, wildcarding the IP address. This would be useful to avoid continuously warning the user every time you connect to a machine with a changing IP address

Permanently added hostkeys (due to IP address pool), without confirmation
Hello, maybe someone could please help and shed some light on a problem that i don't understand, and that even in multiple ways. The problem occurred three or four times over the past months (maybe half a year?) and manifests as ++ Pushing to "gitlab" (at least "master" differs)! ssh disregarding umask for creation of known_hosts (and other files?)
Hey folks-- When ssh creates a known_hosts file for a user, it disregards the currently-set umask, and can actually turn on mode bits that the user has explicitly masked. While i'm happy to have ssh make files *more* secure than my umask (in situations where that's reasonable, like the creation of new ssh keys, etc), i'm not sure that i see the point in ssh making the files more open

segfault on RH 6.2 with 2.5.1p1 going to a host not in ~/.ssh/known_hosts
I recently upgraded all my boxes to 2.5.1p1 (it was a convenient opportunity to get rid of a lot of versions all floating around ...) I used the RPM for RH 6.2 from openssh.com. We have an openssl RPM, that I think I got from openssh.com too (but that was a while ago :) ) - openssl-0.9.5a-2 I am seeing a problem, when ssh'ing from a redhat 6.2 box to a host that is not in a user's
