[Bug 227] 2nd Client Instance Can Login Without Authorization
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227
------- Additional Comments From mouring at eviladmin.org 2002-04-26 15:03 -------
Provide us with your environment and a reproducable example.
The only thing I can think of is that you are using ssh-agent and you've
registered your key with the agent the first time. Thus it is now usable for
all following SSH sessions (from your account)

Password from open filedescriptor
The included patch adds a new option to the ssh client:
-d fd Read the password from file descriptor fd. If you use 0 for fd,
the passphrase will be read from stdin.
This is basically the same as GPG:s parameter --passphrase-fd.
Flames about why this is a bad idea goes into /dev/null. I really need to
do this. There are lots of ugly Expect-hacks out there, but I want a more

Password-Authentication with openssh-3.1p1 fails
Hallo out there,
I've got a strange problem after updating my openssh-installation
from 2.9.9p2 (SuSE-package) to openssh-3.1p1 (Installation from the
source with a modified src.rpm). I will give you as much information
as possible and I hope there is anybody who can help me. I asked in
detail in usenet-groups but nobody had any idea to fix my problem by
configuration.
My system is a

[PATCH]: Cygwin: Changes to cygwin contrib area
Hi,
the following patch changes two files in the contrib/cygwin subdir:
It changes the Cygwin specific README file which adds some hints
related to the new feature to switch user context without password
(which means using public key and/or rhosts authentication). Some
old stuff is erased.
The changes to ssh-host-config are intended to allow an easier
startup for users which are new to Cygwin

Private key encryption by Passphrase
Hi All,
When ss-keygen creates a private key, I guess it stores it in the private
key file after encrypting it with the passphrase.
What kind of encryption does ssh-keygen use for OpenSSH, SSH1 and SSH2?
Another question: OpenSSH doesn't support all the ciphers of either SSh-1 or
SSH-2? So I assume it doesn't work exhaustively with the SSH1 or SSH2
clients? Can we consider OpenSH as a

Help with exporting keys
Hi,
In our department's setup we have a unfortunate situation where we have to
use both OpenSSH and SSH (ssh.com's version). I have managed to export keys
from OpenSSH to SSH's format. I also managed to export SSH's public key to
OpenSSH's format. Now I would like to add the private key of SSH to the
agent. Now when I try to add it simply by using

Private key files closed twice --
=====
I believe that each private key file read is closed twice as
load_private_key(filename, ...)
fd = open(filename, ...)
...
load_private_key_rsa1(fd, ...)
...
load_private_key_ssh2(fd, ...)
...
close(fd);
Unfortunately, "load_private_key_rsa1" and "load_private_key_ssh2" also
close the file. It would simplest to remove the `close()'s in the rsa2

OpenSSH_2.9.9p2 Configuration problem
I've recently upgraded some of my machines from an ssh1 environment to
an openssh one, and consequently, I'm now using the ssh2 protocol. I
can't seem to get it to allow remote logins without prompting for a
passphrase or password. Is this possible? I've created id_dsa and
id_rsa files etc., using ssh-keygen and have copied the public
information to the remote authorized_keys

load_private_key hell
NOTE: If you know how to properly use load_private_key for dsa keys and
NOTE: don't want to read my long post, simply reply with that info and
NOTE: I will really appreciate it. thanks.
I've been playing with the source code and trying to create extra
apps. All has been going well except the fact that I can't load a dsa
private key. To highlight my problem I stole some code

Change in behavior from 2.5p2 to 2.9p1
Under 2.5p2, if I ssh'd back to myself I would get a prompt asking for my
passphrase, and if that was incorrect it would then ask for my password.
Assuming I had a authorized_keys file with my identity.pub in it.
Under 2.9.p1 it goes straight to enter password instead of asking for my
passphrase.
This wouldn't be a problem except that when I have "PasswordAuthentication
no" I

Support for here documents with sftp client in OpenSSH 2.5.1p 1-1 (RH Linux 6.2 [2.2.x kernel])
Damien,
I was going down the path of public key authentication when I encountered
problems. I've been discussing it off-line using the simple example of
creating a key pair with no passphrase for an account on "myserver", then
trying to connect to myserver using the "ssh -i id_dsa myserver" command.
It's not working, so we're debugging now (see below). If you

Loading keys in SSH2
Hello,
I am going through the source of openssh-3.9p1 and I have a quick
question on how the sshd
daemon loads the host keys. In the default configuration of SSH2
protocol, the private DSA hostkey is found in the file
'ssh_host_dsa_key' and the public DSA hostkey counterpart in
'ssh_host_dsa_key.pub'. Likewise, the private and public RSA hostkeys
are found in
