AD authentication problem
I'm having a problem authenticating to Active Directory. I can join
the machine to the domain, wbinfo -g/-u will list the groups and users
and I can map a drive using: smbclient -k //s-lorentz.s-res.uva.nl/c\$
However when I try to get the linux machine to authenticate a user
it doesn't work giving the error NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
(0xc000005e). Looking further in the logs it fails

change column name in a function
Hi,
I have the following function:
TEST <- cbind(Pox0t30.stone.1990.2000,
sqrt(apply(Pox0t30.stone.1990.2000[,2:11], 1, var)))
In rhe resulting Object TEST the added column is titled:
sqrt(apply(Pox0t30.stone.1990.2000[,2:11], 1, var)
I would like to change it to a sensible variable name like PoxMean. How
can I incorporate this into the above function?

Installing GRASS_0.1-4.tar.gz on RedHat7.1 Linux
Dear list,
I have a problem to install the GRASS_0.1-4.tar.gz on RedHat7.1 Linux.
The gmake5 is missing. But I am not quite sure what it is? Is it a gnu
version of MAKE? I could not locate it on my system and I do not know
what is really meant.
Any experience?
I get the following message:

[PATCH] New Solaris Package script.
I finally finished a full rewrite of the solaris packaging software for
OpenSSH. This is still very young, but it should be considered the
replacement for the existing system.
It's a fake root package build so any ./configure options you use that
changes where your configuration files and such go should be captured.
It's not fully tested. However, I'm building packages for /opt and

X11 fonts cannot be loaded - SuSE Linux solution
Dear list,
I would like to make a comment how to solve the X11 font problem under
SuSE Linux (9.0) when you get the message:
"X11 font at size 16 could not be loaded".
After having modified /etc/X11/XF86config as root (see below) you have
to run 'SuSEconfig' as root as well else nothing might be changed in the
X-Server.
After that no further messages should appear.

Erro in loadNamespace
Dear list,
Iget the following error message:

Error in loadNamespace(name) : package 'tools' does not have a name

I do not quite understand what it means in this case. Is something
corrupt in the installation?
I run R-1.8.1 in Linux RedHat 9 with kernel 2.6.2 on Intel P4.

bug :zpool create allow member driver as the raw drive of full partition
IF you run solaris and opensolaris ?for example you my use c0t0d0 (for scsi disk) or c0d0 (for ide /SATA disk ) as the system disk.
In default ,solaris x86 and opensolaris will use RAW driver :
c0t0d0s0 (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0) as the member driver of rpool.
Infact, solaris2 partition can be more then one in each Hard Disk, so we also can use the RAW driver like : c0t0d0p1 (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0p1)

[PATCH] VMCI: Fix two UVA mapping bugs
From: Jorgen Hansen <jhansen at vmware.com>
(this is a resend of this patch. Originally sent last year, but post
appears to have been lost)
This change fixes two bugs in the VMCI host driver related to mapping
the notify boolean from user space into kernel space:
- the actual UVA was rounded up to the next page boundary - resulting
in memory corruption in the calling process whenever

Solaris UseLogin problem
I was having problems getting the UseLogin option to work
on Solaris.
I would recieve this error:
No utmpx entry. You must exec "login" from the lowest level "shell".
This led me to believe that Solaris login wants a utmpx entry in
order to function. I put together a patch that calls record_login
on Solaris when using the system login. I also noticed that writing
