Strange problem from "identical" hosts
Long post.. sorry.
Ok.. I've got three systems, all running openssh-3.0.2p1. As a matter
of fact, they were installed from the same built tree, so I know they are
the same.
Here's the deal. I've got three systems, call them source1, source2 and
target. All are HP-UX 11.0 systems installed from the same tree.
Source1 and source2 both have thier root rsa pub keys in target's

OpenSSH 3.0.Xp1, AIX -> Sun trusted host problem
Hi, Folks ...
Apologies in advance for the length of this message, but I wanted to
be thorough, and provide as much info as I could. I'm trying to
figure out a problem in trusted-host authentication using AIX hosts
as clients, and a Sun host as the server; either I'm missing
something real obvious, or there might be a bug somewhere in some
piece of software involved here.

This is a copy of the bug report I sent debian.
Package: ssh

I want to be able to login between two hosts without entering
passwords.
ssh-keygen -t dsa

Trouble is that the originating host appears unable to parse its own

[Patch] Xauthority file in /tmp
This issue has been discussed here and elsewhere a fair bit in the past
year or so, but to re-address the issue...
As of OpenSSH 2.9.something the ability to have an Xauthority located in
/tmp was removed, with the following description in the ChangeLog :
- markus at cvs.openbsd.org 2001/06/12 21:21:29
[session.c]
remove xauth-cookie-in-tmp handling. use default $XAUTHORITY, since

Plotting leapfrog in R
Dear List
Is there a package for leapfrog plotting (Hamiltonian Monte Carlo
estimation) in R? I tried the actual "LEAPFrOG" package which doesn't
actually give the plot like this one?
http://xianblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/hamilton.jpg
How doe one plot this in R? So, there semi-circle and dots on that
semi-circle.
I don't think curve() or plot() would produce such plot.

Key fingerprint logging
Hello there!
I have made a patch against OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 which allows the fingerprint of
the accepted key to be printed in the log message. It works with SSH1-RSA and
SSH2 pubkey (DSA+RSA) authentication.
This feature is controllable by the LogKeyFingerprint config option (turned
off by default).

Compiling OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 on BSDI version 3.0
FYI,
I managed to install Version OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 on BSDI 3.0. we needed this for
an old Gauntlet Firewall.
I received an the following error during make install
(cd scard && make DESTDIR= install)
make: don't know how to make ./Ssh.bin. Stop
*** Error code 2
I edited the scard/Makefile.in file and changed
install: $(srcdir)/Ssh.bin to
install: Ssh.bin
Then I made a distclean and

3.4p1: 'buffer_append_space: alloc 10506240 not supported'
I have been trying to install 3.4p1 on a number of machines.
Servers on ia64 Linux, i386 Linux and SPARC Solaris are all working
like charms. On the other hand, I am having trouble at least with
HPUX 11, DEC OSF 5.1 and Unixware: on all those systems, sshd bails
out after authentication with an error in buffer_append_space.
Here is the output of sshd -d on the UnixWare machine

OpenSSH 3.4p1 "PRNG is not seeded"
I upgraded from OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 to OpenSSH 3.4p1. Starting SSHD or
ssh-keygen I'm getting the "PRNG is not seeded".
I have verified that prngd is running and "egc.pl /var/spool/prngd/pool get"
runs just fine reporting 32800 bits of entropy.
My platform is Solaris 8 (sparc) and I downloaded binaries from
www.sunfreeware.com.
My guess is the build of OpenSSH 3.4.p1 is

Exit status strangeness
Hello,
Trying to get Oracle DataGuard running, which basically does a lot
of work between two replicating databases via rsh/ssh. It is breaking
because it pays very close attention to the exit status of ssh commands.
We are using OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 (also tried 2.9p1, same result) on Solaris 7
and 8. This seems to be Solaris specific, because I can't reproduce it
on Linux.
I've

UseLogin under AIX 4.3.3
Hi,
If I enable "UseLogin" under AIX, I get the following message upon
login:
/dev/pts/2: 3004-004 You must "exec" login from the lowest login
shell.
The manpage states:
"In order to preserve the integrity of the system, only one session at a

allowed to be logged in to a port. This means that the login command

PRIVSEP annoys me.
what's the point of using a new message type if it's the same as
RSAAuthentication?
the stat() fails because the process that reads
from the network is chrooted.
check PRIVSEP() in auth-rsa.c to figure out how
RSAAuthentication works with PRIVSEP.
