Setup of Samba with Solaris 11.3 to provide Unix File Shares to Windows Users
Dear Rowland,
our windows admin assured me that they have set uidNumber and gidNumber in
the range. I have requested screenshots for confirmation.
Now we are one step further: "getent passwd | grep mdecker" now lists the
AD account.
mdecker:*:13667:7142:Decker, Martin:/home/MYDOM/mdecker:/bin/false
With "getent passwd mdecker" however, it shows

Setup of Samba with Solaris 11.3 to provide Unix File Shares to Windows Users
Thanks Rowland and Louis,
after changing from ad to rid, i get all users listed with "getent passwd",
not just the ones with uidNumber - which is good. But "getent passwd
MYDOM\\mdecker" still does not resolve. In addition, no groups are listed
with "getent group". Looking at winbindd debug, it seems that after trying
getgrsid on the very first group "Exchange

Multiple homedir entries in smb.conf ?
Hi list,
is it possible to add multiple homedir templates to smb.conf ?
I have a running linuxsystem where homefilesets are mounted
from different windows-servers to subdirs like:
/home/server01/home/USERNAME
/home/server02/home/USERNAME
/home/server03/home/USERNAME
The users come via winbind. In the smb.conf the entry for the
homedir:
template homedir = /home/%U
So how is it possible to

2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Hey all,
almost 48h ago I upgraded both my instances to 2.3.1 again to see if
the new patches would fix the replication issues for me.
So far, the result is: great.
I haven't been able to provoke any kind of I/O stall or persisting
queued/failed resync requests in my replication setup.
Newly added users are replicated instantly upon the first received
mails and the home directory gets

My Development Environment is WAY too slow (blame Vista)
I''ve broken away -- partially at least -- from the dark side. I''m a
long-time MS dev. I heard about Ruby and RR from Scott Hanselman
(http://www.hanselman.com/blog/). He''s a great blogger on things in
the MS world but he''s always provided a broader perspective. And he
found great beauty in Ruby and RR and said as much.
I had the opportunity to try out

Setup of Samba with Solaris 11.3 to provide Unix File Shares to Windows Users
Dear List,
I am trying to set up Samba 3.6.25 (solaris 11.3 packaged) to provide
unix file shares to windows users.
I can successfully list groups and users with wbinfo -u / wbinfo -g,
but I do not get any data with "getent group" or "getent passwd". In AD, we
have set "gidNumber" Attribute for Group "Domain Users" to a value in the
specified range

Confusion about linear prediction within flac
Hi,
I'm researching lossless compression for a highschool mathematics
research essay and am fairly confused about how the linear prediction
coefficients are solved for within flac.
As far as I understand, Levinson Durbin Recursion is used to solve for
these coefficients, however, what I don't understand is what the
toeplitz matrix is composed of. I found sources using samples from

doveadm: problem listing shared mailboxes using a wildcard
I'm setting up a dovecot server with private and shared namespaces. My test
setup has these mailboxes:
# /bin/doveadm mailbox list -u fdl01 at spike.test
INBOX/sub01
shared
shared/sammel01 at spike.test
shared/sammel02 at spike.test
INBOX
In order to do some post-login scripting foo I'd like to get a list of shared
mailboxes the user is currently subscribed to. The doveadm-mailbox man

how to set environment variables?
The help file of the R bitmap function says that I have to set the
environment variable R_GSCMD to the path of my Ghostscript
installation. How do I set this variable (either by commandline or in
R.app for Mac)? Sorry if this sounds like a very basic question, but
I could not find the answer anywhere else.
Many thanks

2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Hey all,
I've been affected by these replication issues too and finally downgraded
back to 2.2.35 since some newly created virtual domains/mailboxes
weren't replicated *at all* due to the bug(s).
My setup is more like a master-slave, where I only have a rather small
virtual machine as the slave host, which is also only MX 20.
The idea was to replicate all mails through dovecot and

clustering association rules
Hello.
I have a general question regarding to clustering of association rules.
According to http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/arules/vignettes/arules.pdf
"4.7 Distance based clustering transactions and associations" there is possibility for creating clusters of association rules.
I do not understand, how I have to interpret clusters of rules.
Let us have next association rules and

dovecot sha512-crypt database storage
Hello,
I've got dovecot authenticating to a MySQL database. I've got a field
varchar(128) called password. Whenever I create a password I use
doveadm pw as in:
doveadm pw -s sha512-crypt
now i'd like to get MySQL to make a dovecot-specific password. My goal
is to eventually have roundcube's password plugin working with this
MySQL database to change the password.
Thanks.
Dave.

Diagnostic Tests: Jarque-Bera Test / RAMSEY
Hello R-Users,
The following questions are not R-technical, but more of general statistical
nature.
1. NORMALITY
I built a normal linear regression model and now I want to check for the
residual normality assumption. If I check the distribution graphically and
look at the descriptive characteristics (skewness and kurtosis are below 1),
I would confirm that the residuals are normally

Checkpoint FW-1 NG Policy Editor
Hi,
I very new to wine and do not have much knowledge. Sorry for that, but
I'm trying to spend more time on wine. I want to run the Checkpoint FW-1
for NG Policy Editor under Linux. So I thought, maybi it's possible with
wine to do so. I downloaded the wine-20011106-1.i386.rpm and the
wine-devel-20011106-1.i386.rpm on my RedHat 7.1 System and installed it.
I'm using the standard
