Tune and optimize dispersed cluster
Hi all, I have setup a dispersed cluster (2+1), version 3.12. The way our users run I guessed that we would get the penalties with dispersed cluster and I was right.... A calculation that usually takes about 48 hours (on a replicaited cluster), now took about 60 hours. There is alot of "small" reads/writes going on in these programs. Is there a way to tune, optimize a dispersed cluster

Changing 'record' option in open graphics device
Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to change the value of the "record" option in a graphics device that is already open (and accepts this option). I don''t want to open a new device with, for example "dev.new(record=T)", but just want to change the settings of the current device. This can be done by pointing and clicking on the "history" tab of a

geo-replication
Hi Kotresh, I am expecting my hardware to show up next week. My plan is to run gluster version 3.12 on centos 7. Has the issue been fixed in version 3.12? Thanks a lot for your help! /Marcus On Fri, Mar 02, 2018 at 05:12:13PM +0530, Kotresh Hiremath Ravishankar wrote: > Hi Marcus, > > There are no issues with geo-rep and disperse volumes. geo-replication
Hi again, I have been testing and reading up on other solutions and just wanted to check if my ideas are ok. I have been looking at dispersed volumes and wonder if there are any problems running replicated-distributed cluster on the master node and a dispersed-distributed cluster on the slave side of a geo-replication. Second thought, running disperesed on both sides, is that a problem (Master:

Wifi connection finally solved
After a year or so of trying to get wifi-cards of various brands and chipsets to work, today it finally happened! I got my 3com 3CRPAG175 to jump to it and connect to the department WPA2 AP! I wouldn't have done it without your help. Thanks all! One question though, should it really take upwards of a minute or so till the NetworkManager says it's now connected?? -- BW, Sorin

weights in GAM
I have a problem finding how to use prior.weights or weights options when performing a stepwise GAM analysis (gam and step.gam functions) for covariate inclusions. Thanks beforehand for references or help on how to handle these 2 options. -- Paul Baverel, MSc, PhD student Div. of Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Faculty of Pharmacy Uppsala University Box

Fortran90 and 77 on CentOS
Hi all, Is anybody here using Fortran90 and Fortran77 on their CentOS-machine(s)? If so, did you get that from a repo or something? One of our PhD-students needs a software that requires the Fortran compilers mentioned in order to make the sources for our i7-machines. The Fortran stuff that is available to me is from the standard CentOS repos, as well as Rpmforge and EPEL repos, from which I

Torrent tracker for CentOS v5.3 working properly?
Hi, Is the tracker for the 5.3-release working properly? The only torrent I see actually downloading is CentOS-5.3-i386-bin-1to6. The other three for the i386 DVD and ditto for x86_64 (cd+dvd) are just sitting there. The availability and the number of connected peers in the swarm for each torrent is rather high though. Do torrent downloads work from a single tracker at centos.org, or are those

Thanks to CentOS-devs
I've now upgraded a server and a handful of clients with CentOS 5.2 i386. All is spiffy and works really good! Like the new theme too. Thanks guys, good work! OT: Windows Vista Tablet PC linux alternative
Hi all, I have this tabletpc one of my bosses insisted on buying. The machine runs Windows Vista TabletPC Edition. As it happens I have a thousand and one problems with this POS operating system... I think the hardware is fine though, so it's not that. Would any of you guys know of some kind of linux-based alternative, preferrably available on or for CentOS, that can do the same

CentOS 5.6 to 5.7 upgrade
Hi all, Almost wish I had something more exciting to say regarding the 5.6 to 5.7 upgrade, but it just worked flawlessly. Physical as well as virtual machines. Yum-cron with CentOS 5.7
Hi all, I use yum-cron with my new CentOS 6-installs and rather like it. So much in fact, that I tried getting it to work in the older CentOS 5-installs I also have scattered at the department. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for some reason. I found this; <<https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22483>>, where it's suggested one use

Tick marks in cloud (lattice)
Hi! Probably a simple question, but I can't get any tick marks in the 3d scatterplot I created using the cloud function. The following works to display the three groups using different symbols: data(iris) cloud(Sepal.Length ~ Petal.Length * Petal.Width, data = iris, cex = 1.2, groups = Species, pch = c(16,1,1), col = c("black","black","red"), subpanel =

Creating a controlled local repo
Hi all, I've been thinking about creating a local repo for our to-be CentOS-park (we're currently in the process of migrating from RHEL3 to CentOS5). As we need to control all updates being applied (think WUS, Windows Update Server) because of special software being run on servers and clients, we must check first that our molecular modeling software doesn't bite the grass should eg

geo-replication
Hi again, I made some more tests and the behavior I get is that if any of the slaves are down the geo-replication stops working. It this the way distributed volumes work, if one server goes down the entire system stops to work? The servers that are online do not continue to work? Sorry, for asking stupid questions. Yum segmentation fault when updating to CentOS v5.5
Hi all, I'm getting a segmentation fault with yum when I try to update a CentOS v5.4 install to v5.5. What I've done: * Ran yum clean all. * Ran yum update yum* * Ran yum update, and got the segmentation fault. * Yum suggested running with option --skip-broken, which I did. Still got the segmentation fault. * Rebooted machine and ran yum update again. Segmentation fault... * Googled

Ext4 on CentOS 5.5 x64
Hi all, For those of you that have been using the ext4 technology preview on CentOS 5.5, how has it panned out? Does it perform as expected? How do you feel the stability, creation of the FS and the administration of it is? Ideas and comments welcome. Dual-booting CentOS and WinXP
Hi all, You know how I asked about procedures to build a dual-boot system with CentOS and WinXP a while ago? Well, I I've begun with a test machine. What I had from start was a working CentOS 5.3 32b system. What I did was to just add another empty drive configured as slave and then boot from the Windows install cd. The most curious thing happened now, I get a blank screen after the Windows
