?? 'OpenFile failed. Distribution Media Appears to be corrupt.' ??
I'm trying to run a stock analysis app called NAIC Toolkit 4
in Wine on Fedora Core 2 Linux....
It uses InstallShield I think (it has a fancy GUI installation piece)
so I:
1. installed DCOM98
2. ran EXE file via Wine with WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,oleaut32,rpcrt4=n" switch
This got rid of some errors but now I'm stuck at one last one...

DC Replication issue
Hello all. I have successfully joined a Samba 4 DC running RHEL6 to an existing Windows AD DC running on 2008 R2, with the exception that users created via the samba-tool are not replicating to the Windows AD DC. Replication is working from Windows to Samba. I'm sure this is probably an issue on the Windows side of the house, but I cannot find any errors in the logs. Has anyone else run

count.fields inconsistent with read.table?
Hi,
batch is a vector of lines returned by readLines from a
NL-line-terminated file, here is the relevant section:
=========================================================
AA BB CC DD EE FF
GG H
H JJ KK LL MM
=========================================================
as you can see, a line is corrupt; two CRLF's are inserted.
This is okay, I drop the bad lines, at least I hope I do:

SSH hang fix??
It is nice to see that the development of openssh suddenly seems
to have a boost of activity. However I am fairly dissapointed to
see that nobody is actually trying to fix the ssh hanging problem
which I am mainly seeing on Solaris and AIX in conjunction with rsync.
Has anybody from the development team got an ETA of the official
fix for this problem?

Weird Keys in Counterstrike
Hi,
I have just compiled wine-20011108 for my Mandrake 8.1 box, installed
Half-Life, patched it to 1.1.0.8, installed csv13full.exe. I then tried to
connect to a local LAN server however all the keys are all real weird. I ran
my standard win98se config file, it worked OK. By weird I mean that
normally when I move the mouse my player looks around but under wine he
starts a slow slide across

Single Sign On
We have a network of PCs running XP and servers running Win 2k and Win 2003. User Account management is done with Active Directory (AD). We want to add some Sun Solaris computers to this network. One of the network guys said that Samba could be used as a single sign on solution for a network of Windows and Solaris computers. He said that Samba 3.x provided the capability to use Active

behaviour of ssh/scp over flakey links - timeout/retry?
I'm using OpenSSH's ssh and scp to back up some remote
machines, roughly as follows :
ssh remote-host "tar up a few dirs"
scp remote-host:tarfile local-repository
On the whole, as I'd expect, this works just fine.
But .. sometimes the link is a bit dodgey (for lack of
a more explicit term, this being a polite list :) )
Can anyone tell me how ssh and scp timeout and retry,

-c none option
We are using openssh with backup software to transport data back and
force between clients and backup server. Common sense and some testing
suggest that the data transfer rate is significantly slower when the ssh
native encryption is used. For the backup applications it's probably OK
to use ssh without encryption. Unfortunately, it looks like the recent
versions including 3.0.2p1 do not

Extensions for long fat networks?
Before I get too far in my attempts...
Has anyone already implemented support in scp for larger
buffers/windows that would take advantage of wscaled TCP
windows?
Paul Hyder
NOAA Forecast Systems Lab
Boulder, CO
FYI: Linux 2.4.20, 30-80ms RTT, data rates 100-1000Mbps,
and a need to fill TCP windows of 2-8MBytes.
(Existing limits appear to be about 256KB.)

des_ssh1_setiv not setting the IV ?
Greetings;
I've been reading the OpenSSH source code and have a question about the
des_ssh1_setiv function in cipher.c. (cut-n-pasted here from cipher.c
v1.47) :
static void
des_ssh1_setiv(CipherContext *cc, const u_char *iv, u_int ivlen)
{
memset(cc->u.des.iv, 0, sizeof(cc->u.des.iv));
}
This doesn't use the *iv parameter. Compare with:
static void
