2.9: RSAAuthentication problems
I'm using an OpenBSD 2.9 snapshot on i386. "ssh -V" reveals
OpenSSH_2.9, yada yada.
I generated a keypair using ssh-keygen and accepting defaults. I copied
the public key to another box, stuck it in ~/.ssh/authorized_keys with
host restriction and then tried to use it. Failed. Removed the host
restriction, still failed. Just get asked for password.
So I cut out the extra box.

OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8 buffer_get problem
Hi there,
I have a weird problem with OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8. Whenever I try
to use ssh, scp or sftp to connect to the Solaris box, the connection is
closed by the server and the following msg logged thru syslog:
"sshd[542]: fatal: buffer_get: trying to get more bytes 129 than in
buffer 39"
I tried from an RH 7.1 client (2.9.9p2), from a Solaris 8 client
(2.9.9p2), and an OpenBSD

possible bug: OpenSSH appears to freeze on exit
Hello,
I believe I may have discovered what appears to be a small anomoly in
the way
OpenSSH closes connections and thought if I gave you some feedback I
might
be able to make a very small contributution to the development of
openssh.
This might be a Solaris 2.6 anomoly or an openssh anomoly or a
combination of both.
I came across this apparent anomoly because we use openssh (via cron)

OpenSSH 2.9.2p2 passwd work but not publickey on HPUX 11
Hi,
I have hard figuring out what I did wrong ... On HPUX 11 I have compiled
OpenSSH 2.9.2p2 with gcc 2.9 (taken from hp opensource server) and zlib
also downloaded from hp. As long as I do passwd authentication everything
work fine (I have used --with-pam), but if I tried publickey either in
sshv1 or sshv2 authentication fails. I have tried a bunch of things but
none worked so all

ssh with iptables and equalize
Hi everyone,
I have a configuration for a router that load-balances between two ISPs.
What happens is that if a source-destination combination is looked up, one
of the two gateways will be chosen, and further lookups will stay on that
gateway until the chosen combination "stales" out. Web browsing works,
ftp works, kazaa and other applications work. ssh on windows (using
putty) works.

2.9p2 -- ForwardX11 fails -- X11 connection uses different authentication protocol
Hi,
I just grabed the 2.9p2 and can't forward X11 connections. This worked
fine for me under 2.9p1 but with 2.9p2 it seems that $XAUTHORITY isn't
getting set and when I try and set it manually connections to the
Xserver still fail with:
debug1: X11 connection uses different authentication protocol.

ssh/sshd go off in limbo-land after closing remote session (v2.9.9p2)
When I run a remote xterm, the ssh hangs even after I quit the xterm.
Below is the output for the following sequence:
client> ssh -v -v -v dazel xterm
xterm> exit
client> ^C
The outcome is always the same - the ssh doesn't exit with I quit the
xterm... I have to hit CTRL-C on the client side.

Problems with SSH when using pam_radius_auth?
Hi,
I have installed OpenSSH 2.9p2 on Linux Redhat 7.0 with PAM support and
using pam_radius_auth to authenticate of a radius server also running
Redhat, My problem is that the request goes via the radius server fine
and sends back a rad.accept to the pam module but ssh refuses to let me
in, it looks like sometihng to do with rhosts but complains very loud
about expired accounts. I've looked

SFTP is prompting for password
Hi,
I am facing a problem in migrating to SFTP from FTP
for an unix based application.
I have got 2 m/c, SRC (Source) m/c and TRG (Target)
m/c.
For SFTP connectivity, I created a Public-Key
(ssh-keygen -t dsa) in src_usr1(user-id) at SRC m/c .
Which created the necessary identification file
(id_dsa & id_dsa.pub) andthen,
I copied the id_dsa.pub into the file authorized_keys

Bad packet length error
Hi,
I am running sshd (openssh-2.9p2) on a power-pc LynxOS box, and am
connecting from a ssh client (openssh-2.9p2) on an x86 Linux box.
This works fine for ssh protocol version 1, but am getting the below error
for ssh v2:
Disconnecting: Bad packet length -857542839.
I am also attaching the complete debug traces from sshd & ssh below.
I am not sure if this is an "endian" issue.

Problem connecting to v2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8
I ran into a weird problem yesterday where Putty can't connect to my
OpenSSH/Sol box (and still can't ever since). On the Putty side I get the
error message:
"internal fault: chaos in SSH 2 transport layer"
I've attached the "sshd -d -d -d" syslog output.
Any ideas what's going wrong here? From a layman's point of view, it
would appear that Putty and

have the following problem when connecting with the ssh2 protocol to
non-solaris OS:
On the client side, I do:

On the server side (AIX 4.3), the sshd runs as follows:

Key exchange/selection badly broken in SNAP1014?
Hello all,
It seems the overhaul on key exchange/selection broke it badly. I haven't
managed to use any other encryption method than 3des and blowfish when
connecting to SNAP -> SNAP. SNAP -> 2.2.0p1 will use arcfour
etc. quite cleanly.
How SNAP -> SNAP looks like:
