problem with normalizePath()
In researching another issue, I discovered a workaround: the network drive folder needs to be mapped to the local PC. setwd("//Hzndhhsvf2/data/OCPH/EPI/BHSDM/Group/Michael Laviolette/Stat tools") df1 <- readxl::read_excel("addrlist-4-MikeL.xls", 2) # fails, throws same error df2 <- readxl::read_excel("Z:/Stat

Updated ssh-keyscan patch for ssh2 support
In the past 2 months another change occurred in the CVS code that broke my ssh-keyscan patch. Here's an updated version that tweaks the changed name (in the Kex struct) and also causes an attempt to grab an ssh2 key from an older server (without ssh2 support) to fail earlier and without an error message (Stuart Pearlman emailed me some code for this). This patch is based on the BSD CVS

ListenAdress Exclusion
I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on a simpler way to exclude addresses from having listeners on them. I know a lot of people have multiple subnets, especially larger corporations. Some networks are non-route-able, and therefor unsuitable for use with SSH, aside from communication between other servers on the same subnet. Given that we may want to exclude those non-route-able

problem with normalizePath()
I found this as well. At our institution, our home directories are on network shares that are mapped to local drives. The default, it appears, is to set the location for libraries (etc) to the network share name (//computer//share/director/a/b/user) rather than the local drive mapping (H:/). Given the issue with dir.create(), this means it's impossible to install packages (since it tries to

Why openssh newer than 2.9.9 doesn't send SIGTERM and SIGHUP to child process?
Hi, I search in archive list if there any reason why is removed in openssh newer than 2.9.9 from function 'void session_close_by_channel(int id, void *arg)' sending of SIGTEMR and SIGHUP signals to child as was in 2.9.9 version? See follow sniped code from 2.9.9 sources: ---- openssh-2.9.9/session.c ---------------------------------------- void session_close_by_channel(int id, void

ANNOUNCE: cifs-utils release 4.7 available for download
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 The last cifs-utils release (4.6) was on July 30th, so it's probably a good time to go ahead and release a new one with kernel 2.6.36 shipping soon. Major highlights: - - new cifscreds program has been added. This will eventually allow for stashing of username/password in the kernel's keyring for use by cifs. Kernel code for this is not

AIX- 'Host not found' in getaddrinfo("0.0.0.0", "22" , ...)
Hello, while openssh-1.2.1pre25 ran out-of-the box, in openssh-1.2.1pre27 the sshd fails to start with: "Host not found" returned... (gcc 2.9.5.2 under AIX 4.3.2 ML 2) Incompatibility of AIX-getaddrinfo ???? Since I'm not familiar with getaddrinfo, I've got no idea what goes wrong ??? Does the code below work on other architectures? Demo-Code built with values taken from a

[PATCH] Connect timeout
The attached patch adds a new 'ConnectTimeout' option (man page updated in patch) to avoid wasting time when the target host is down. I needed that because I was using rsync/rdist over ssh for massive files update and the default connect() took too long for my purpose. The patch was tested on Linux only, but I used a similar one for ssh 1.2.XX on Linux, Solaris and HP-UX without

[patch] openssh 3.0.2p1: Libwrap gets linked in unnecessarily
Hello, There is a small but annoying problem with linking libwrap in openssh. The library is added to LIBS which makes it be linked in to all binaries. This is unnecessary and leads to bogus dependencies if libwrap is a shared library. Following is a trivial fix that reserves a separate autoconf substitution variable LIBWRAP, which is only used for sshd. Please apply. Maciej -- +

MASQUERADE problem again...
Dear list members, Masquerading does''not work for me. This is a Mandrake Linux 10 system, but I use another kernel, that included in the original distribution (original: 2.6.3, now used 2.6.8 because of a lot of suck with OpenSwan with kernels prior 2.6.4). The problem seems to be similar or identical mentioned here:

OpenSSH compile problem on Solaris 8 & 9
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this... the OpenSSH Mailing Lists page is a little ambiguous. I've tried to compile OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 & 3.0.2p1 on two different Solaris platforms, one running Solaris 8 and the other Solaris 9 beta. It configures fine, but the make dies: gcc -I/opt/include -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I. -I/opt/include -I/opt/include

ssh-keyscan continuity patch --
I apologize, this patch should have been sent awhile ago. Between a lot of things that needed to be completed at work as a sysadmin for the Research Computing group at Purdue University and retiring from work after 38 years at the end of May (2012), I basically ignored it. This patch is from a clone of my workstation that I just activated at home. The patch was primarily written to fix the

[PATCH] tcp-wrappers support extended to x11 forwards
Hi! Here is the patch to support tcp wrappers with x11-forwarded connections. The patch is for openssh-3.0.1p1 but it works fine with 2.9.9p2 too. I've understood that this will not be included in the official version because it adds complexity (?!) to openssh. Binding the forwarded port to localhost doesn't solve all problems. I've understood that you should also implement
