Slow connection performance with ssh2
Hi, since I switched from SSH 1 to OpenSSH 2.9p2/2.9.9p2/3.0p1 Snapshot I suffer from awfully slow connection performance. Once the connection is established, performance is perfectly ok. ssh -2 and hostbasedauth
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to read OpenSSH's log files (to assist our people in diagnosing "why is it always asking me for passwords"). All clients and servers are 3.0p1. First: server does not have the client's RSA2 key in known_host. debug1: done: ssh_kex2. debug1: send SSH2_MSG_SERVICE_REQUEST debug1: service_accept: ssh-userauth debug1: got

Samba Server not found through broadcasting
Hello! I'm not a newbie to Linux but to Samba and Linux<->Windows networking, so -naturally- I encountered some problems. First let's start with my configuration: I'm running RedHat 7.3, Samba 2.2.3a and Windows 2000. The Linux server's name is hilbert, my Windows machine is igor. And this is my smb.conf [global] workgroup = TEST netbios name = hilbert interfaces =

svd() (Linpack) problems/bug for ill-conditioned matrices (PR#594)
After fixing princomp(), recently, {tiny negative eigen-values are possible for non-negative definite matrices} Fritz Leisch drew my attention to the fact the not only eigen() can be funny, but also svd(). Adrian Trappleti found that the singular values returned can be "-0" instead of "0". This will be a problem in something like sd <- svd(Mat) $ d

Disconnecting: Corrupted check bytes on input.
Hi, just "cvs update"'d to get the latest portable version, to start rebuilding our AIX systems to get zlib-1.1.4 and the channel-bug fix. SSH protocol 2 seems to work nicely, ssh protocol 1 doesn't work properly. Environment: AIX 4.3.3, openssl 0.9.6c, openssh as of today (Mar 12, 11:20 GMT). Client/blowfish, to openssh 3.0p1 or to 2.5.1p1: debug1: Encryption type: blowfish

updated package waveslim 1.4
waveslim 1.4 has recently been uploaded to CRAN and is fully compatible with Rv2.0. Besides ensuring usability with the most recent version of R, two additional "flavors" of wavelet methodology have been added to the package: (1) Hilbert wavelet pairs and (2) the dual-tree complex wavelet transform [only 1D and 2D ported from Matlab code by Selesnick]. The dual-tree CWT code has

Inverting a square matrix using solve() with LAPACK=TRUE (PR#13762)
Full_Name: Ravi Varadhan Version: 2.8.1 OS: Windows Submission from: (NULL) (162.129.251.19) Inverting a matrix with solve(), but using LAPACK=TRUE, gives erroneous results: Here is an example: hilbert <- function(n) { i <- 1:n; 1 / outer(i - 1, i, "+") } h5 <- hilbert(5) hinv1 <- solve(qr(h5)) hinv2 <- solve(qr(h5, LAPACK=TRUE)) all.equal(hinv1, hinv2) #

R 1.6.0 benchmark with and without optimized ATLAS
Hello, I am updating my benchmark (http://www.sciviews.org/other/benchmark.htm) to recent versions of data analysis software (including R 1.6.0 and Splus 6.1), and I now run it on a Pentium IV instead of the old Celeron 500 Mhz that candidates for retirement. I test R under Windows Xp pro with and without optimized BLAS. I use the optimized Rblas.dll for P4 found on CRAN. Here are the results.

Hi Gert, Thanks for your reply. But we can't upgrade to 7.2 version also we don't have plan to upgrade in near future. Can I fix these vulnerabilities in the current version? Refiling this. The actual fix was slightly more complicated. Will soon be committed to R-Patched (aka 2.9.1 beta). -p rvaradhan at jhmi.edu wrote: > Full_Name: Ravi Varadhan > Version: 2.8.1 > OS: Windows > Submission from: (NULL) (162.129.251.19) >=20 >=20 > Inverting a matrix with solve(), but using LAPACK=3DTRUE, gives erroneo= us > results: Thanks, but there seems

[PATCH]: Patch to fix hang on exit bug under Linux and add optional exit delay
The hang-on-exit bug still hasn't been fixed in OpenSSH-3.0p1... :-( Here again is the patch to fix this bug under Linux, updated for OpenSSH-3.0p1. This has been exhaustively tested for six months now. It also add an exit delay option that can be useful. The patch does not lead to data loss under Linux. Please see the Secure NFS page (SNFS) for further details:

bug in sshd.d (destroy_sensitive_data core dumps)
Hi, experimenting with openssh_cvs on my SCO Unix 3.2v4.2 machine, I had sshd core dumping on me. Tracking this, I found that if a host key is specified in the sshd_config that does not exist (I used "./sshd -d -d -d -f sshd_config" with the shipped sshd_config file, to work around incompatibilities with the installed sshd.com's sshd_config, and I do not have ssh2 host keys on

PrivSep and portability
Hi, I've seen a few patches related to the PrivSep works. As far as I can see, it seems to work by using a shared memory segment to communicate. I just want to point out that there are some unix systems that do not have mmap() (SCO, older SVR3 systems) or that might have problems with anonymous shared mmap() (don't have an examples, but e.g. the INN docs are full of warnings concerning

Inside coef.qr, we have coef[qr$pivot, ] <- .Call("qr_coef_real", qr, y, PACKAGE =
