Hello Markus,
Thanks for the reply :)
I am afraid you didn't understand me right I saw the sending of this
message - but as I can see it is send only at the start of the
connection or after keyreexchange. I need to know if these packets are
sent during the connection because my server waits for such packets
and didn't recieved them. I am sure that such kind of packets are not

Question performnace of SSH v1 vs SSH v2
Hello
I have ported OpenSSH 3.8p1 to a LynxOS platform. Recently I heard a
report from the field that v2 is perceived to be significantly slower
than v1. Is this a known issue? Are there any configuration parameters
that can be modified to make v2 faster?
Thanks in advance for your response

Kernel oops with ext3 and software raid
Am using RedHat 7.3 with software raid. it was crashing from time to time
so i desided to investigate. after running some stress tests on it it died
with a kernel message (see below). it might not be ext3 related but since
I was running redhat with ext2 for some time without problems (not on the
same machine) I thought it might have somthing to do with the fs.
Any ideas. I'll try converting

remote vs local window discrepancy
I am utilizing an openssh tunnel between two Linux boxes. On the client
box I issue the following commands to set up the tunnel;
- ssh -w0:0 root at x.x.x.x -v where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the Linux
system running sshd
- ip addr add 10.0.5.1/32 peer 10.0.5.2 dev tun0
- ip link set tun0 up
On the box running sshd I issue the following commands:
- ip addr add 10.0.5.2/32 peer 10.0.5.1 dev

New dynamic window patch (with limits)
As before, it is described on our website. This should apply fairly
cleanly to both portable and openbsd ssh.

DynamicWindow Patch
We have developed a patch that enables changing the SSH window size
using the tcp window size as the source. This allows SSH to obtain
maximum use of the bandwidth on high BDP links.
We also have a page that describes the changes and performance.
http://www.psc.edu/~rapier/hpn-ssh/
The patch against CVS is included here.
Common subdirectories: src/usr.bin/ssh/CVS and ssh/CVS

Samba 3.0.9 + Windows SP2
Hi,
I have problem with Samba 3.0.9 (Version 3.0.9-Debian).
After start or restart I can seel computers (Windows XP stations).
After a half hour all Windows XP with SP2 are going invisible. It
possible to connect them by \\computer_name, but to unhide you
must restart Samba.

SSH connection hanging on logout
I am running OpenSSH 2.9p1 on SunOS 5.7 w/4-24-2001 patch cluster.
Like many other users I am seeing the hanging session on logout
with background processes. This is a huge problem for me as
I centrally manage 50+ machines with rdist across ssh.
Instead of just complaining about the problem I thought I would
put my CS degree to use and try to track down the problem myself.
For starters,

bootstrapping vinum root
Well, colleagues, I'm stuck a bit.
I tried many different ways to setup system with vinum root (the only
reference I found yet besides old "bootstrapping vinum" article is Joerg's

Wine menu integration stopped working in KDE.
Hello!
I've got following problem:
for some reason "wine" entry disappeared from KDE's start menu("K Menu") some
time ago, and I'm unable to figure why this happened. I'm using wine-0.9.43
(compiled from sources) on Slackware 12 with 2.6.21.5-smp kernel, KDE 3.5.7.
As I understand, application menu entries still exist in
~/.config/menus/applications-merged
