How can I politely disconnect? Was: Clean way to monitor status of 'sshd' remotely?
I'm having the same issue "Eddy Geez" posted about in October, 2001 - I'm looking to figure out how to politely disconnect from openssh's sshd, such that it will either not log the connection at all or will at least not log it at fatal level. I monitor the sshd daemon on all my hosts with Netsaint's check_ssh plugin every five minutes, so there are a *lot* of these log

Nagios monitoring of tinc
Folks, Does any of you have a sensible way of monitoring tinc? I haven?t tried anything yet, sorry for that. I?d like to avoid log spamming like the check_ssh plugin does (?10+ preauth' warnings a day). check_tcp is an option, but I was wondering whether anyone cooked up something more sensible. astping crashes asterisk manager module
hi Just installed astping in Nagios (former netsaint), and it works fine - for some time. After several hours, the Asterisk manager module just stopped responding, and I had to restart to make it work Any idea what might cause this? Sorry - I don't have the log now. Is it possible to have asterisk log console output somewhere? roy -- Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk, Datavaktmester ProntoTV AS -

Samba 2.2.1a and named pipes
Can Samba write to named pipes ? I am using Netsaint/Nagios for system monitoring and the command file to write system commands to is implemented as a named pipe. I can write normal files to the directory but whenever I try and write to the pipe I get access denied. Thanks. ---------------------------- Jeff White Senior Systems Engineer Xelus, Inc. Portable R in zip file for Windows
What is wrong with you guys? I asked for a zip, like R Studio has for example. Totally clear. I cant execute exes. But I can unzip files. Thanks Gabor, I had that in mind, but can't execute the exe due to security restrictions. Geez, really, treating people who ask questions this way just makes you don't want to ask a single one. Thanks Tom. Development doldrums in another open source project
I, too, want to thank Tom for such a great software package and all the support he has always given. I was just reading a Slashdot interview with the Nagios/NetSaint author Ethan Galstad. The whole article is interesting and I bet the questions and answers would be similar for Shorewall: http://interviews.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/01/09/1216259&mode=thread&tid=156 Question 19

Problem: Copying large amount of files to SAMBA Server. W2KError "file in use" for exe files
At the risk of stating the obvious but 2.2.3a is rather old - try updating to the latest stable 2.2.x series of Samba. After that you might want to look into the options relating to "Oplocks" >>I am wondering if anybody has expected the same problem before? The only idea i have is that this error occures because i have a lot of file and directory, chown, chmod directives in my

MP3 to OGG conversion
I've done a little searching of the mailing lists before posting this and found a few threads on converting from mp3 to ogg but no one that I've seen ever answers the question. a .wav file is a digital format is it not? I'm no video/audio guru by any stretch so if I'm wrong on that point please correct me. But for this message I'm going to assume .wav is a digital format. .mp3

google voice calling dial plan question.
When a caller calls my google voice phone number, I must answer, wait and press one to accept. Sometimes even that does not work. I have tried a few different things to get asterisk to place the call in an answered state and send the DTMF 1 with the Dial macro. I found Malcom Davenports wiki page regarding Google calling which has been very helpful in troubleshooting the issue.
