Trailing comma in enum for 3.2.3p1
A trailing comma in an enum generates an error with the IBM C compiler, xlc, on AIX 4.3.2: $ gmake ... xlc -O2 -qmaxmem=-1 -qarch=com -I/opt/TWWfsw/tcpwrap/include -I. -I. -I/opt/TWWfsw/libopenssl09s/include -I/opt/TWWfsw/zlib11s/include -DSSHDIR=\"/etc/opt/TWWfsw/openssh323\" -D_PATH_SSH_PROGRAM=\"/opt/TWWfsw/openssh323/bin/ssh\"

subject: ssh non-intuitive logging setting. (priority names)
subject: ssh non-intuitive logging setting (priority names). I installed openssh 2.3.0p1 on Solaris 7 for x86 box and sshd worked fine. However, somehow the logging of connection and disconnection to sshd was not recorded as I wished. Time to investigate. On a host where sshd from data-fellows once ran, the log was recorded with auth.info level. After trying to modify sshd_config, I found that

log-server.c patch: adding tag to every log output.
The attached modification to log-server.c add a "tag" to all the syslog output. The tag is a composite of the internal verbose level names used in sshd and the external syslogd names. The form of the tag is as follows. ssh_internal_name(syslog_priority) This might be instructive for a learning sysadmin trying to setup syslog for sshd logging. (I have posted earlier about

patch for openssh3.5p1 - adds logging option
this patch adds a LogFile option to sshd_config. it just logs messages directly to a file instead of stderr or syslog. the largest change is an additional argument to log_init() in log.c for the log file name (and then changes to the rest of the tools to add a NULL arg). galt -------------- next part -------------- diff -urN openssh-3.5p1-orig/log.c openssh-3.5p1/log.c ---

[PATCH] Added NoDelay config option and nodelay subsystem option
Hello again! Since there was some resistance against adding TCP_NODELAY uncontionally, I've made another patch. The new patch contains the following: * Added a NoDelay yes/no (default no) config option to ssh and sshd * Added -oNoDelay=yes to the ssh command line for sftp. * Changed the sshd subsystem config option syntax from Subsystem name path to Subsystem name options path

[PATCH] connect() timeout
Here are the new versions of this widely used patch for OpenSSH 3.2.2p1 and 3.2.3p1. The patch avoids waiting to long when using ssh() or scp() on a down host, it is usefull when you have to update many hosts via rsync or rdist themselves relying upon ssh(). It enables a new option 'ConnectTimeout' to control exactly the timeout value, so that it can be used even on slow links. These

[PATCH] PamServiceNameAppend
Hello, Here's the situation I'm facing : I'm running OpenSSH on a server. On a gateway, I forward TCP:22 to the server TCP:22. So far, so good. I can log in from inside the lan by connecting using standard SSH port, or from the other network through the gateway. Now, I'd like a different configuration for connections from the outside. I start another SSHd on the

[PATCH] Allow binding to a local port (OpenSSH 5.2)
OpenSSH supports the -b bind_address argument for binding to a local IP address when connecting to a remote host. It's however currently not possible to specify a local port to bind to, something I've found useful at several occasions. Below is an unified diff that introduces the [-B bind_port] option to ssh(1) and a ssh_config(5) style option "BindPort bind_port". This allows

[PATCH] Add multiple AuthorizedKeyFiles options
Hi, We'd like to run sshd with a configuration morally equivilent to: # stuff ... AuthorizedKeysFile /var/db/keys-distributed-by-security-team/%u AuthorizedKeysFile %h/.ssh/authorized_keys # be backwards compatable for a bit longer yet AuthorizedKeysFile %h/.ssh/authorized_keys2 # more stuff ... The following patch (against the cvs source) turns the authorizedkeysfile statement in sshd.conf

patch to add a PAMServiceName config option
I append a patch against openssh-3.5p1.tar.gz which adds a config option PAMServiceName. The option allows one to specify the PAM service at runtime in the config file rather than using __progname or having it hardwired to SSHD_PAM_SERVICE at compile time. I expect this to be useful if one wants to run multiple instances of sshd using different PAM configurations. With this patch

Idletimeout patch
While I was updating our ssh-servers, I rewrote my old patch that adds idletimeout (just like in old ssh1) parameter to openssh. Since reapplying the patch for all new versions of openssh is not fun at all, I would like to have it included in the official openssh, if you consider the patch worthy. Unlike ClientAlive, idletimeout works for both protocol versions. It also works together with

sftp-server (secure) chroot patch?
Hello, I know this chroot issue has been brought up many times before on this list. I saw that the contribibuted chroot-patch was removed from the contrib directory because it always was out of date. The main reason was of course was that sftp-server has to be run as root to be able to do the chroot() call? Most of you are against chroot (since it isnt in the src) but I believe a lot of users

[PATCH] Connect timeout
The attached patch adds a new 'ConnectTimeout' option (man page updated in patch) to avoid wasting time when the target host is down. I needed that because I was using rsync/rdist over ssh for massive files update and the default connect() took too long for my purpose. The patch was tested on Linux only, but I used a similar one for ssh 1.2.XX on Linux, Solaris and HP-UX without

[PATCH] connect() timeout
Here is a version of this widely used patch specific for OpenSSH 3.1p1, as it is still not in the main tree (perhap one day...) The patch avoids spending too much time when doing an ssh()/scp() on a down host, as it does not depend off the default TCP timeout used by connect(). Patch was tested on Linux, Solaris and HP-UX. The patch can also be found on:

[PATCH] Add an exit delay to Openssh-3.0.2p1 for use in tunneling
Here is a patch to implement an exit delay in OpenSSH-3.0.2p1, proposed by John Hardin. This is his description of the feature: New option for OpenSSH: Delay before exit. Command line option: -S delay Config file option: sleep {delay} Purpose: Wait the specified number of seconds after last traffic before dropping the connection and exiting. If ports are forwarded, this causes the ssh client

Idletimeout patch, third attempt
Here is my third attempt at the idletimeout patch. I tried to address the points which Marcus Friedl brought up. It is actually bigger than the previous patches, but not as intrusive. It is big because it moves some stuff from serverloop.c to packet.c. - I moved all the logic to packet.c. This means that I also had to move the actual select() call, which used to be in serverloop.c to packet.c.

PATCH: log key fingerprint upon successful login
This patch is against 3.0.2p1. It produces output like the first line in the example below for both v1 and v2 logins. Logging is turned on by sticking ``LogFingerprint yes'' in sshd_conf. It would be nice if something like this would make it into OpenSSH. Dec 4 14:21:09 lizzy.bugworks.com sshd[7774]: [ID 800047 auth.info] Found matching RSA1 key:

[PATCH] Add a chroot_users option to sshd
This patch adds a new option to sshd, chroot_users. It has the effect of chroot()ing incoming ssh users to their home directory. Note: this option does not work if UsePrivilegeSeparation is enabled.
