Hi Fellows from R-Help List!
My questions are basic since i an new with R. I am very acquainted with Matlab &
Gauss (the compentence, I guess). Anyhow,
(1) I am trying to get R execute comands made or built as text, so that one can
feed a particular option with many variations coming from a text file. Is this
possible with the free version? For instance, there exists the eval comand in

reading large data sets
I have some difficulties in reading big dataset; I have to import a dataset with 1'661'852 observations saved in a 51.4Mb - txt file.
I was wandering if this is a memory size problem or if I realy can't import such big datasets.
If the memory allocated to my R is not enough, I would like to know exactly which comands I should use in order to read and use my large dataset.

Halo
i'm studying chemistry, today we made an experiment and i have to draw a
titration kurve for my mess data. we can do it on a mm paper, or we can also
use a programe. people from chemistry recomend "R"
last year i studied civil eng. and we used Matlab, as I see, R ist very

Thanks, Iain.
I am willing to hear from other users whether anyone else sees this as a
bug before filing it.

ssh-keygen hangs with empty prngd.conf - bug ?
Hi,
I use openssh-2.9p2 on an i386 LynxOS system.
Since LynxOS does not have support for /dev/[u]random, I installed openssh
with prngd support.
It so happened by accident on installation that prngd.conf got truncated to
zero size.
With prngd running as such, ssh-keygen just hangs.
I notice similar case with sshd, ssh, ... as all these depend on prngd for
random number.

Patch to enable multiple possible sources of entropy
I have a need to have the same OpenSSH binaries run on multiple machines
which are administered by different people. That means on Solaris, for
example, there will be some with /dev/random, some on which I can run prngd
because they'll be installing my binaries as root, and some which will have
neither because they will be only installed as non-root. Below is a patch
to enable choosing all 3

libvirt support for sheepdog file system
Hi Everyone,
I am planning to extend libvirt to support sheepdog for qemu/kvm and
found that storage code is placed in src/storage. Storing files in
sheepdog is independent of file system and we just need to specify
vm-name on qemu command ine. Here are the following comands used for
creating and running a VM using qemu

Comparing crossing survival curves
Hi
I want to compare the survival curves in two groups. Because the hazards are
not proportional (the curves cross) the log rank test or Cox proportional
hazard test are not suitable. How should such curves be compared? Comands
are welcome....
Thanks in advance

Re: R-help Digest, Vol 17, Issue 25
hello,
I'm trying to use R to take an image matrix and paint it into a
tcltk canvas. I'm using R-1.9.0 within ess-5.2.0 on a linux
machine running the 2.4.30-31.9smp kernel. I'm using the
ActiveTcl8.4.6.1-linux-ix86 tcltk libraries.
When I run the following comands, however, I get an R segmentation

ssh-rand-helper
Now that ssh-rand-helper has been segregated into a separate program,
I'd like to revisit an old question about its entropy gathering.
- would it be desirable to make it possible for ssh-rand-helper to fall
back to external commands if PRNGD cannot be reached, instead of
choosing one or the other at compile time?
- When using PRNGD, the program gets 48 bytes of entropy from PRNGD,

OpenSSH 3.4p1 "PRNG is not seeded"
I upgraded from OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 to OpenSSH 3.4p1. Starting SSHD or
ssh-keygen I'm getting the "PRNG is not seeded".
I have verified that prngd is running and "egc.pl /var/spool/prngd/pool get"
runs just fine reporting 32800 bits of entropy.
My platform is Solaris 8 (sparc) and I downloaded binaries from
www.sunfreeware.com.
My guess is the build of OpenSSH 3.4.p1 is

ssh-rand-helper probs
Hi all
Am i doing this right? Is this the right list to post to? If not, a
quick lesson in ettiquette for me would not hurt. As I am both just
starting to use newsgroups and SSH, I am not entirely familiar with the
processes. I have a question about ssh-rand-helper. First an outline: I
am currently using the SSH packages for Solaris 2.8 available at
sunfreeware.com. The environment is
