2.9p1 SCO OS 5.0.5 server and Linux client hang on exit when using X11 forwarding and protocol 2
When I run this command:
ssh -1 -v -n -l root njdb1b /usr/bin/X11/xterm -sb -sl 1000 -T njdb1b -e find /etc
An xterm appears on my screen, the contents of /etc scroll by and then ssh exits.
When I invoke the same command with the -2 option, the xterm appears (and disappears) but
ssh never exits. netstat says the (ssh) connection is still established but the xterm
is no longer

Rhosts Auth Issues with OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 2.7
I've installed OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 2.7 and I am trying to get rhost
authentication working. Something appears to be wrong with the client
side as I can do rhost auth with a ssh1.2.27 client. Any help would be
appreciated.

HPUX: ssh hangs after shell exit
I am aware that there have been several posts related to ssh connections
hanging, i have tried to read through most of them in the archives... I
am posting this in hopes that it may present something new that will
further help resolve this problem.
The problem i am having appears to be similar to what others have
reported where after typing exit in an interactive shell the connection

Disconnecting: protocol error: rcvd type 98
When I SSH using protocol 1 from a Debian box running OpenSSH 2.9p2-4
to a sparc.sunos5 box running vanilla OpenSSH 2.9.1, after a little
while (of inactivity?) I get the following message on the client
terminal:
Disconnecting: protocol error: rcvd type 98
Looking further, this message is actually caused by the SSH daemon.
However, I'm at a loss to determine why sshd is doing this.

2.9p2 -- ForwardX11 fails -- X11 connection uses different authentication protocol
Hi,
I just grabed the 2.9p2 and can't forward X11 connections. This worked
fine for me under 2.9p1 but with 2.9p2 it seems that $XAUTHORITY isn't
getting set and when I try and set it manually connections to the
Xserver still fail with:
debug1: X11 connection uses different authentication protocol.
debug1: X11 rejected 1 i1/o16

[OpenSSH] sample line about ForwardX11 in ssh_config file is not fit to default setting
Hi
OpenSSH developers
I use OpenSSH under FreeBSD. It's cool and useful for me.
By the way, sample line of ForwardX11 in ssh_config was not fit
for default setting in readconf.c. I want to change ssh_config.
----------
In ssh source (src/usr.bin/ssh/readconf.c), currently ForwardX11
is disabled.

multiple Host entries in ssh_config
Hi list,
I have looked over the documentation and done some experiments,
and I'm now really confused about how this supposed to work so I'm
appealing to you. If this is a faq perhaps I can write it up in a
patch to the existing faq.
I'm running ssh 3.8.1p1 on Debian Sarge. I looked briefly at the
4.x manpages but haven't tried that version of the software, the
manpage looks no

OpenSSH_2.9.9p2 Configuration problem
I've recently upgraded some of my machines from an ssh1 environment to
an openssh one, and consequently, I'm now using the ssh2 protocol. I
can't seem to get it to allow remote logins without prompting for a
passphrase or password. Is this possible? I've created id_dsa and
id_rsa files etc., using ssh-keygen and have copied the public
information to the remote authorized_keys

Patch to add "warn" value to ForwardX11 and ForwardAgent
Because ForwardX11 and ForwardAgent are so useful but introduce risk when
used to a not well-secured server, I added a "warn" value to the ForwardX11
and ForwardAgent options which causes the ssh client to print a big warning
whenever the forwarding is actually used. I plan to make "ForwardX11=warn"
the default in my ssh_config distribution.
I'm not proposing that this

gvim hangs under ssh
This happens every time. I:
1. ssh into another machine
2. start gvim
3. Select another color scheme from "Edit | Color Scheme"
At this point gvim hangs and so does the terminal that I am ssh'ed
into. I am using vim 6.1 on Solaris 7 machines. I am using:
OpenSSH_2.9p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090600f
This problem doesn't happen if I rlogin and set my

`_POSIX_VDISABLE' undeclared
Dear developpers,
I'm using OpenSSH_2.9p1 with prngd on my Sony NEWS-OS 4.2.1R.
NEWS-OS 4.x is based on 4.3BSD and lack of many POSIX and ANSI features.
Today I tried to make the latest openssh_cvs and got the following error,

scp between two remote hosts
Hi All,
I am running openssh (OpenSSH_2.9p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0). The scenario
is that I have got three machines (A, B and C). The sshd on host A is
listensing on port 1234, and the sshd on host B is listensing on port 5678.
How can I set up a scp from a third host C so as to copy a file from host A
to host B?
scp -P 1234 myname at A:/var/tmp/file1 -P 5678 myname at B:/var/tmp/file1

Upgraded to 2.9p1 with no luck..
Howdy,
After upgrading to 2.9 (OpenSSH_2.9p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL
0x0090600f)
I'm unable to ssh between two systems any more (the two that I've upgraded).
I've recompiled from the original source several times, each time with no
errors,
regenerated host keys, regenerated client keys (using rsa), etc., to no
avail.
Below are some relevant snippets of debugging output

Exit status strangeness
Hello,
Trying to get Oracle DataGuard running, which basically does a lot
of work between two replicating databases via rsh/ssh. It is breaking
because it pays very close attention to the exit status of ssh commands.
We are using OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 (also tried 2.9p1, same result) on Solaris 7
and 8. This seems to be Solaris specific, because I can't reproduce it
on Linux.

OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8 buffer_get problem
Hi there,
I have a weird problem with OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8. Whenever I try
to use ssh, scp or sftp to connect to the Solaris box, the connection is
closed by the server and the following msg logged thru syslog:
"sshd[542]: fatal: buffer_get: trying to get more bytes 129 than in
buffer 39"
I tried from an RH 7.1 client (2.9.9p2), from a Solaris 8 client

occasional ssh hang
I am using OpenSSH on Redhat 6.2 (Intel) and Solaris 2.6 (Sparc). I have a
job on the linux machine that ssh's to the Solaris machine every 20 seconds
or so and runs uptime. The problem is that after many iterations of this,
ssh will occasionally hang, and require a kill -9 to get rid of the
process. The problem happens with both protocol version 1 and 2, but it
seems to happened more often

mysterious connection breakdown
Hi there,
at a school I have two servers and I created a little backup "system"
for them. A cron job runs on the first server (fserver), backs stuff up
there and then ssh's to the second server to run a backup script there
too. (the first server is located in internal network, the second in a
DMZ).
When I tried everything on console, it worked fine, but when run from

Couldn't obtain random bytes
I am trying to generate a ssh_known_hosts2 file, 2.9.9p2,
using:
ssh-keyscan -f list_of_hosts -t rsa > ssh_known_hosts.rsa
and
ssh-keyscan -f list_of_hosts -t dsa > ssh_known_hosts.dsa
but both commands fail almost immidiately with:

What could that mean?

scp 2.9.9p2 doesn't work
I just upgraded openssh on my Solaris 8 boxes from 2.9p2 to 2.9.9p2,
and scp has stopped working. Remote logins with ssh do work, though.
Both client and server run 2.9.9p2.
Please let me know if you need more information (configure options,
config files etc.). I'm not on the list, so CC's would be appreciated.
Thanks!
