Debugging ssh-keygen dsa on Solaris8
Hello, >From the response to my original post regarding openssh, obviously the only way to resolve the problem of getting openssh to work properly under Solaris 8 with openssl 0.9.6b was to compile with debugging an analyze to core file. Let me state that I am not a developer, but maybe the following will help. I have compiled both openssh2.96p2 and openssl 0.9.6b with debugging using the Sun

RFE: Portable OpenSSH
For a future release of Portable OpenSSH, it would be nice to have a ./configure option to enable the binaries produced, to be statically linked. I tried using LDFLAGS option to ./configure .... but this passes arguments to gcc not ld, this should be documented. Additionally, I feel that ./configure should --extra-inc=dir and --extra-lib=dir to add paths to compile (-I) and link lines (-L &

ssh2 key passphrase problems in 2.9.9 on Linux
I've just compiled and installed openssh-2.9.9p2 (compiled against openssl-0.9.6b using gcc-3.0.0) on a Slackware 7-based Linux machine (kernel 2.4.6ac2). The previously installed version was 2.9p2, compiled against openssl-0.9.6a, also with gcc-3.0.0, but with a different build of gcc-3.0.0. Everything seems to work fine except for one problem: passphrase matching for ssh2 keys

FYI dsa_lib.c and dh_lib.c in openssl-0.9.6b and latest snapshot
Hello, I am writing to comment on problems I have seen in the past that are currently still problems with compiling OpenSSH with the Sun Forte Compiler version 6 update 2 and gcc on Solaris 8 (not suprising since the problems are actually in the openssl code). I used the snapshot from 11/4 for this test on a brand new system I built from the July release of Solaris 8. I have the latest linker

openssh password expiration problem
openssh password expiration problemPatrick, Indeed password aging does not work with OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 on Solaris 2.6. >From what I can tell something is different with Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 2.8. I know that password expiration doesn't cause a problem on Solaris8. I'm unclear as to whether the problem is with OpenSSH code or Solaris. All I know is that the latest PAM patches are not

Strange problem with "make clean"
Hello, I'm experiencing a weird problem doing "make clean" in "/usr/src". It happens on a couple of FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE machines (RELENG_4_8 to be precise). Cvsup, build & install phases all went fine, just "make clean" went wrong. I tried rm-ing the incriminated subdirectory and even rm-ing the checkout.cvs:RELENG_4_8 file and re-cvsupping but nothing

Zap channels ringing too loudly
Hi All I've got an asterisk system, using a couple of Xorcom Astribanks to provide FXS ports. (I'm using the zaptel 1.2 branch, if that matters) I've noticed that the ringing volume is a lot louder than on our old phone system, and people are starting to complain it's too loud. (This is the noise the phone makes when it rings, not the noise in your handset when you ring

Remapping port below 1024 on the firewall
I give up and need help! I won''t add to the confusion by showing all the combinations I have tried unsuccessfully... and yes, I''ve read FAQ2 and FAQ2a many times! When googling the subject of this post there are many answers that boil down to using the same three iptables rules, two of which use nat. I won''t repeat them here. I don''t want to risk mixing

sshd takes 15 minutes to start
Hi all, We are running OpenSSH v3.4p1 on three ES340 Alpha which run Tru64 v5.1A. The last couple of weeks, the system hangs at bootup for 15 minutes at the point where it is bring up sshd. When I manually stop and start sshd, it still takes 15 minutes. I manually ran sshd with the -ddd level 3 debug option. sshd hanges at the message which states it is creating a randomized seed. It also

Nokia N80 and asterisk?
Recent posts indicate people have been having luck with the nokia E60/E7x phones and asterisk. I was wondering though if anyone had had any luck with the N80? I've got the N80 to register with asterisk, and that works just fine. However, it gives a 486 when I try to place SIP calls to it (either to the register username, or to the phone number). Oh, and I can't figure out how to make

sshd can't change expired password on Sol8 with Openssh3.0p1 + PAM
The reason I ask about the patches is because I think the problem you're seeing might actually be a bug in pam_unix.so.1 - it's something to try at least. We don't use password aging and we don't use the "passwd" command to change passwords, so we haven't run into this at our site even though we probably don't have pam_unix.so patched up. Also, the passwd

build problem with 2.9p1 & p2
Greetings - I don't think this is a bug; just something I don't understand. I'm using RedHat Linux v7.0 with an i686 processor. I've been using openssl v0.9.5a with openssh v2.2.1 I've upgraded to openssl v0.9.6b and openssh v2.9.p2 I've built both packages with the '--prefix=/usr' option. During the openssh 'make install' at 'host-key' I get

Using vorbis-java to read an existing file?
Hi All I was hoping to be able to use the vorbis-java library to read the comments attached to an ogg vorbis audio file. The snag is that I can't see how to work with an existing file, only to create new ones. The encoding example only writes, doesn't read. The javadocs don't appear to tell you what you need to do. I tried to follow the C examples, but the APIs just seem to be
