Remote port forwarding problems
I've been trying to get remote port forwarding to work between redhat 6.2 boxes using openssh 2.2.0p1. One box is running the stock kernel, the other is running 2.4.0-test9 currently. The command I type is: ssh -v -R 8080:localhost:8080 <remote machine> I've also used the machine name and ip address for the local machine. The -v shows these curious messages: debug: read DSA

[PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
This refactors existing code to close file descriptors in the recovery process, and also adds code to close file descriptors between the fork() and exec() of QEMU or User-Mode Linux. The reason is to avoid leaking main process file descriptors where the main process (or other libraries in the main process) are not setting O_CLOEXEC at all or not setting it atomically. Python is a particular

[libguestfs PATCH] lib: remove guestfs_int_cmd_clear_close_files()
The last (only?) caller of guestfs_int_cmd_clear_close_files() disappeared in commit e4c396888056 ("lib/info: Remove /dev/fd hacking and pass a true filename to qemu-img info.", 2018-01-23), part of v1.37.36. [PATCH] Switch to poll in xenconsoled's io loop.
The original implementation utilies select(). In Linux select() typically supports up to 1024 file descriptors. This can be a problem when user tries to boot up many guests. Switching to poll() has minimum impact on existing code and has better scalibility. Up to 8192 file descriptors are supported in the current implementation. Defeating Timing Attacks Patch for OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 and 2.9p2
Hello, In response to the timing analysis attacks presented by Dawn Song et. al. in her paper http://paris.cs.berkeley.edu/~dawnsong/ssh-timing.html we at Silicon Defense developed a patch for openssh to avoid such measures. Timing Analysis Evasion changes were developed by C. Jason Coit and Roel Jonkman of Silicon Defense. These changes cause SSH to send packets unless request not to,

Problems sending large results with backgroundrb
I''m working on an application that does extensive database searching. These searches can take a long time, so we have been working on moving the searches to a backgroundrb worker task so we can provide a sexy AJAX progress bar, and populate the search results as they are available. All of this seems to work fine until the size of the search results gets sufficiently large, when we start

[PATCH] Add a Maximum Idle Time (1.2.2)
The attached patch adds an option (off by default to preserve current behavior) to set a timeout on the select() statement that waits for input in clientloop.c. This fixes a timeout issue for me (explained below) and probably also fixes the timeouts mentioned in last month's thread "Idle time out". The patch is also available by http from:

[plyr] Moving average filter with plyr
Dear all, I'm stuck with a problem using plyr to process a rather large junk of data. What I'm trying to do is applying a moving average to all the subparts of the dataframe (the example data can be found here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2414056/testData.Rdata). require(plyr) load("testData.Rdata") applyfilter<-function(x){ return(filter(x,rep(1/5, times=5))) }

Calling CreateFile on an instance of File - possible?
Hi all, I''m going over win32-file this weekend. I''m creating instance methods for setting (or unsetting) the various file attributes. So, you can do something like: f = File.open("foo.txt") f.archive = true f.hidden = true f.close This works for the basic attributes, but it requires extra work for others. Specifically, I am having trouble trying to set the

ssh(1) multiplexing rewrite
Hi, At the n2k10 OpenBSD network hackathon, I finally got some time to clean up and rewrite the ssh(1) client multiplexing code. The attached diffs (one for portable OpenSSH, one for OpenBSD) are the result, and they need some testing. The revised multiplexing code uses a better protocol between the master and slave processes and I even bothered to write it up :) It tracks the control sockets
