samba AD problem after re-join domain
I've been working on a Samba AD setup with a bunch of test machines -
the one DC, and a bunch of clients.? Last night, I ended up switching
the name of the test machines temporarily (except the DC), and
re-joining the domain (that's for another e-mail later).? When things
didn't work the way I had planned,? I switched the hostnames back, and
re-joined the domain today on all the

First use of cd ~user fails on systems using winbind
Hi.
I'm running the latest Samba 4.18 on our dc (Linux - Rocky 8.8), and the
clients are running the latest 4.17 (Linux - Rocky 8.8) to be upgraded
to 4.18 soon.
I've noticed an issue for awhile that is really quite strange and wonder
if anyone has any thoughts on this.
Samba/Kerberos auth has been setup and working for quite a long time,
and I don't think the configuration of

kerberos ticket on login problem
I'm experimenting with smb + winbind.
My host is joined to AD and I can login to my host fine using my AD
credentials via SSH.?? The only issue is that I don't get a Kerberos
ticket generated.
In /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf I have:
krb5_auth = yes
krb5_ccache_type = KEYRING
In /etc/krb5.conf, I also have:
default_ccache_name = KEYRING:persistent:%{uid}
Using wbinfo -K jas, then

Copying from graphics window in OS X
I'm running R from an Xterm window is OSX-Tiger. Graphical windows
appear as they should, but I'm having trouble copying from them--using
cmd+c or the Copy option in the Edit menu won't place the graph in the
clipboard (when I paste into a running OS X app, I get whatever was the
last copied thing from a non-x11 window). Any ideas on how to copy from
a xterm-launched graphical

using samba-tool from a domain member other than the DC
Hi.
I left off from my original question...
I've joined the domain using "realm join", and am not using winbind.
I'm looking for the minimal configuration I need to have in smb.conf to
be able to run samba-tool from a domain member.
My /etc/krb5.conf contains:
[libdefaults]
default_realm = <my realm>
dns_lookup_realm = false
dns_lookup_kdc = true
My /etc/smb.conf

isolinux 2.08: screen garbage when loading kernel?
I'm using the RIP Linux mini rescue distribution.
http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/
I have modified v. 7.0 for usage on our 32 node Tyan Tiger MPX Linux
cluster with a serial console. Because of a bug with Grub on this
motherboard when running headless and using a serial console I use the
optional Isolinux version 2.08 also included with RIP Linux to boot from

FW: IA64 test report: 2.6.8-rc1 /tiger 2004-7-20: Boot Hang!
Originally, the test is on a tiger with RHEL installed. The fs is ext3 as default.
Then the oops came up.
I've installed the test kernel on another tiger with Suse, reiserfs as default.
The kernel can boot successfully without any trouble.
Is it a known issue? Or what causes this happen?
thanks,
-zhen
