Bad packet length error
Hello, I just built openssh-2.5.2p2 on an HP running HP-UX 11.00. Seems now when I try and connect to other HP's running ssh with version openssh-2.3.0p1 (using protocol version 2), I'm getting disconnected because of a "Bad packet length" error: ssh -v isd1 ... debug1: ssh_dss_verify: signature correct debug1: Wait SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS. debug1: GOT SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS. debug1: send

Best Axxium Pro, Model Series 0650?
Hi There, We have this rather large-ish floor-standing Best Axxium Pro, Model Series 0650. I tried using both the "bestups" and "blazer_ser" drivers with it, but no go. So before I go any further: *Should* one of these work with it and, if not, do I have any options? (E.g.: Modify a current driver, resuscitate one that was started and abandoned, etc.? I can code.) My test

Samba AD DC, DHCP & Address Assignments
Hi All, I should have considered this beforehand... Assumed the info would be in the Wiki somewhere. Cannot find. The way our LAN has been working is clients use DHCP, but all address assignments are static. Thus, when a given PC asks "what's my address?", the DHCP server looks at the MAC address and asks the configured resolver what is the IP address for the hostname for that

samba_dlz: Failed to configure zone... already exists
Hi All, Finally got BIND_DLZ going. Last errors were: samba_dlz: Failed to configure zone 'example.com' loading configuration: already exists exiting (due to fatal error) samba_dlz: shutting down And, indeed, I had, in /etc/bind/named.local.conf: zone "example.com" in { type master; file "named.hosts"; }; Commenting that out

lists.samba.org's Mail Servers Are A Bit Wonky?
To Whom It May Concern, I tried emailing the ostensible mailing list owner, at both addresses noted, and got no response. Maybe somebody here knows how to alert whomever must know about this. Observe... From home (business class cable with static IP and valid rDNS)... $ host -t mx samba.org samba.org mail is handled by 10 smtp.samba.org. samba.org mail is handled by 5

samba_dlz: Failed to configure zone... already exists
Jim, It wasn't an implication that Samba4 would crash your server, rather it was a question of what happens *if* that box fails (power supply, memory, cpu, disk controller, etc. I've seen 'em all)? Consider this. I had one site with a Microsoft DC providing DHCP to it's clients and shared folders. When that DC failed due to disk controller, it stopped issuing DHCP leases.

Samba Internal DNS vs. BIND_DLZ
Hi All, Well, after going in something of the Wrong Direction, I figure on starting over. Now: Looking at the docs, ISTM that BIND_DLZ is kind of a PITA. So, being as I need the BIND (server also is the nameserver for the entire LAN), and the recommendation is to put the AD PDC in a sub-domain, anyway, I was thinking: Run BIND as normal, but bind it to only eth0 Set up an eth0:0

Samba AD PDC , LDAP and Single-Sign-On (was: re: Samba Internal DNS vs. BIND_DLZ)
I'm very confused. I have a Samba4 AD/DC which works great for Windows Authentication with our Windows 7 workstations. Now, I am trying to implement single-sign-on for our coming-soon Linux workstations. All web documentation I've so far found on this references OpenLDAP as the server and describes server-side commands such as kadmin and slapd-config to get things set up on the
