X11 forwarding and LBX
So I'm working from home today, and for the first time I've tried
running Evolution over a forwarded X11 connection. Even though work has
a T1 and I have 640k at home, and ssh is compressing, it's ... rather
slow.
So I fire off lbxproxy and try to run an xterm to see if it works. No
dice, authentication denied.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Is it possible to run

OpenSSH tmp cleanup
Hi,
I noticed that Markus has fixed the temporary file cleanup problems in
OpenSSH cvs. What files need patching for this ? I only noticed
changes in: session.c, channels.h and channels.c.

Searching for antilog function
Dear R-users,
I have a basic question about how to determine the antilog of a variable.
Say I have some number, x, which is a factor of 2 such that x = 2^y. I
want to figure out what y is, i.e. I am looking for the antilog base 2 of x.
I have found log2 in the Reference Manual. But I am struggling how to
get the antilog of that.
Any help will be appreciated!

F-secure v1 client has trouble connecting to openssh-2.5.1p1
I'm observing that mac clients using F-Secure ssh v1 client log into the
ssh server, and then the client just hangs with nothing on the screen.
In the SYSLOG file, I see this:
Accepted password for user from host port whatever
Packet integrity error (62 != 58) at session.c:350
Disconnecting: Packet integrity error. (34)

[ANNOUNCE] xtrans 1.4.0
xtrans is a library of code that is shared (but is *not* a shared library)
among various X packages to handle network protocol transport in a modular
fashion, allowing a single place to add new transport types. It is used
by the X server, libX11, libICE, the X font server, and related components.
This release drops a bunch of dead code, including support only used by
lbxproxy and pre-1.4.0

[PATCH] tcp-wrappers support extended to x11 forwards
Hi!
Here is the patch to support tcp wrappers with x11-forwarded connections.
The patch is for openssh-3.0.1p1 but it works fine with 2.9.9p2 too.
I've understood that this will not be included in the official version
because it adds complexity (?!) to openssh.
Binding the forwarded port to localhost doesn't solve all problems. I've
understood that you should also implement

Packet integrity error. (34)
Hi,
I am using Van Dyke SecureCRT 3.2.1 to access an AIX server running
OpenSSH-2.5.0p1. Using ssh1 with X11 forwarding enabled, the server
reports the following error (in the client session):
Packet integrity error. (34)
This problem was not evident in 2.3.0p1. Running sshd in debug gives the
output:
debug1: sshd version OpenSSH_2.5.1p1
debug1: load_private_key_autodetect: type 0 RSA1

"possible hijacking of X11-forwarded connections" bug has not been fixed completely
leanneHi OpenSSH team,
I am still able to reproduce this problem with openssh50 code both on hpux.
Seems like OpenSSH didn't fix this problem completely.
how to reproduce:
1. root at sshpa4# uname -aHP-UX sshpa4 B.11.23 U 9000/800 3267743753 unlimited-user license
2. sshd_config

AIX lastlog change?
Somewhere between 2.9p1 and 2.9.9p2 there was a change to auth2.c that
removed the userauth_reply() function. There were a few lines of code
in that function, #ifdef'd with WITH_AIXAUTHENTICATE, that handled the
AIX method of lastlog type stuff (specifically, a loginsuccess() call).
There is a similar call in auth1.c, down in do_authentication(), which
is still there in 2.9.9p2.
So with

ARS function
I am having problem calling ars function in ARS package. My parameter domain
does not have upper bound or lower bound, so I did not givevalues to
parameters ubx, lbx. But it keeps telling me the starting values I provided

density. I plotted the density function values for the absicssas vs the

PAM problem - sshd segfault on Solaris
I'm using OpenSSH-2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8 sparc64. 2.9p2 worked fine, but
2.9.9p2+ is giving me trouble with one thing - sshd segfaults if I try to
connect and execute a command, such as "ssh machine ls". Otherwise it
works great. sshd will fork, and the child process segfaults.
CVS snapshot does the same thing.
I've narrowed this down somewhat. It will only happen if you use

problem with X11 forwarding and use_localhost on Linux (solution)
On Linux (and others that define DONT_TRY_OTHER_AF)
x11_create_display_inet() will only use the first entry returned by
getaddrinfo(). When binding sockets to "ANY" this is fine on Linux
since a PF_INET6 socket bound to ANY will also include IPv4. However
when x11_use_localhost (X11UseLocalhost) is set, this is a problem.
getaddrinfo() will then return an AF_INET6 entry with IPv6 address
