Another prob. w/keygen on Sol8
Hi All,
I'm seeing the same problem reported by Don Cooley
on 3/30/01. Compiling OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 on
Solaris 8, sun4u, 64bit using Sun's Forte 6 C compiler
(-xarch=v9 option), /usr/ccs/bin/make and OpenSSL-0.9.6.
RSA keygen works, DSA fails with Bus Error. I already had DSA keys
generated on my test machine that were generated with
Openssh-2.3.0p1 and trying to start the 2.5.2p2 sshd
daemon

ssh-keygen: passphrase.
Looking at openSSH INSTALL:
To generate a host key, run "make host-key". Alternately you can do so
manually using the following commands:
ssh-keygen -b 1024 -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key -N ""
ssh-keygen -d -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key -N ""
But when I try latter, I get:

ssh-keygen opens NULL filename
Hi,
it's impossible to use -f option with ssh-keygen with version 3.5p1:
$ ./ssh-keygen -t dsa -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key -N ""
Generating public/private dsa key pair.
open failed: No such file or directory.
Saving the key failed: .

ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
hello,
i built an ssh 2.5.1p2 package for solaris. it's installed into
/usr/local (with sysconfdir=/etc) on an administrative host with write
access to /usr/local. other hosts nfs mount /usr/local. i had a
script copy the following files generated from the package install
into each host's /etc directory:

DSA Fingerprints...
Hello,
Questions, observations, and curiosities.
Maybe this is something stupid or maybe I'm doing something wrong...
But... In light of the Kurt Seifried paper on SSH and SSL, I was looking
for the finger prints on my various servers and known hosts files to have
a little crib sheet and maybe plug the list into a database on my palm pilot.
I found that ssh-keygen lists out the

help with openssh
Can anybody help me with this : ?
I first generated rsa key with this :
ssh-keygen -t rsa -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key
then I went on to generate the DSA key too....(just incase my SSHD does not
like RSA).
ssh-keygen -t dsa -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key
and then I ran
root at 00_00_09_PECA_NP1:/usr/bin# sshd -d -d -d -d -d -d -d -d -d

program-prefix does not work
the configure option --program-prefix does not work although it is
listed in teh configure --help output.
The attached patch fixes these issues:
1) program prefix is not substituted in configure
2) program prefix is not present in Makefile
3) scp requires use of a known "scp" program

New configuration scripts for Cygwin
Hi,
I have attached two new shell scripts `ssh-host-config' and
`ssh-user-config' which will replace the script `ssh-config'
in the next Cygwin OpenSSH release.
Could somebody with write access please remove
contrib/cygwin/ssh-config
from the OpenSSH repository and add these two attached files
instead?
The third attached file is the diff for contrib/cygwin/README.

Samba 2.2.8.a for Solaris
Hi,
I just downloaded and installed samba2.2.8.a on a sun4u sparc box running Solaris8. The installation process completed w/o errors and I can now confirm that by "$pkginfo -l samba". I can even start and stop samba by "/etc/rc3.d/S99samba.server start" and see that smbd and nmbd processes are running. However, I can not find the "configure" file in the source

Debugging ssh-keygen dsa on Solaris8
Hello,
>From the response to my original post regarding openssh, obviously the
only way to resolve the problem of getting openssh to work properly
under Solaris 8 with openssl 0.9.6b was to compile with debugging an
analyze to core file. Let me state that I am not a developer, but maybe
the following will help. I have compiled both openssh2.96p2 and openssl
0.9.6b with debugging using the Sun

Makefile objdirs patch
I've attached a patch which fixes a minor Makefile glitch when
building in a different directory than the source directory. The
patch is relative to OpenSSH 2.3.0p1.
Please let me know if you have any questions or problems.

[patch/Cygwin]: Simplify host key generation in ssh-host-config script
Hi,
as the subject says, the below patch just simplifies the host
key generation in the Cygwin-specific ssh-host-config script.
Rather than testing and generating each key, call ssh-keygen -A.
Could somebody with checkin rights please apply?
Thanks,
Corinna

Everything looks okay, the file exists, (it was generated using command:

I also do 'ls' and find the file exists with permissions:
