4.6p1 chan_read_failed error
The 4.6p1 sshd is logging this error during remote commands or file transfers: error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 3 Platform is Solaris 8, 4.6p1 + OpenSSL 0.9.8d. The commands and transfers work correctly, so the error message appears to be spurious. The error message does not appear when processing logins. Otherwise 4.6p1 is running without any apparent problems. This error

sshd problem on Solaris 7: Control-C hangs shell
I have a strange problem with sshd (from openssh-2.9p2) on Solaris 7. My shell is bash. When I open an ssh session , and type a Control-C to bash's prompt, the shell hangs. (But, if I for instance run "sleep 10" (during which time the pty is in cooked mode) and press Control-C, the sleep command is interrupted quite normally, and the bash prompt returns.) Adding some debugging

AIX 4.3.3 + sshd = bug
Hello, I believe that there is a bug in OpenSSH that affects its usage on AIX 4.3.3 - Maintenance Level 3 and higher. This bug was introduced by a change by IBM in the "/usr/lib/drivers/ptydd" driver, and it affected IBM's own telnetd daemon (reference

v2 connection logging vs v1
When connecting with v1, the server logs a message when I exit my login shell: Closing connection to 130.207.167.32 However, when connecting with v2, it only ever logs: Connection closed by remote host. Tracing through the code, it appears that instead of breaking in serverloop.c:server_loop2() at: if (had_channel && !channel_still_open()) {

Dashboard table resource_statuses growing uncontrollably
I''ve "inherited" the administration of a puppet-dashboard (version 1.1.0, installed on RHEL 5.6 from puppetlabs RPM), and have hit a problem I''m hoping for some help with. In short, one table, "resource_statuses" appears to be growing at a rate far higher then the other tables: mysql> select count(*) from nodes; +----------+ | count(*) | +----------+ |

/tftpboot file locations
Has anyone had any luck with moving files outside of /tftpboot? Its been particularly frustrating in my environment to support files within this directory. Especially since I support three different architectures and need to differentiate their boot loaders, kernels, configs, initrd's, etc. I'd really like to symlink off to my AFS space and let the sysname values do the work. Is there a

Multiple (multiplexed) simultaneous ssh connections - Cygwin bug?
Hello, ? I need to make many (>50) ssh connections from linux to cygwin at the same time. Using Windows 2000 Server (OpenSSH_4.3p2, OpenSSL 0.9.8b and updated cygwin) and Linux RHEL4 (OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a). ? It's been difficult to optimize many simultaneous connections. Here were some issues: 1.?????? On Windows XP/Professional, Microsoft intentionally cripples the TCP/IP stack.

chrooting/jailing transfer-only accounts
Folks, I've been tasked to find a solution that will create file-transfer-only accounts that are jailed or chrooted to a specific directory. (Not an uncommon task, I think.) Using the OpenSSH server and the OpenSSH scp client program, I can achieve the goal of having a file transfer only account jailed to a specified directory, by using the "scpjail" script (attached) as a

[LLVMdev] Question on llc output stream
In llc's GetOutputStream we have this: raw_fd_ostream *FDOut = new raw_fd_ostream(OutputFilename.c_str(), /*Binary=*/true, Force, error); Why is Binary set true here? We don't know yet whether this is going to be an AsmFile or a MachOFile. Setting Binary=true causes the stream to be unbuffered. Is this what we want?

... who are nervous because: (a) it seems that there will be a widely-known vulnerability and/exploit for OpenSSH available in the coming days, and (b) the advertised fix for the problem, privilege separation, doesn't seem to be working on AIX as of the latest release version of OpenSSH (based on the comments I've read; I haven't tried it yet) ... ... what should we do? Problems with the tty's in openssh + AIX
Hi everybody. I posted this also to comp.sec...ssh, so excuse me for multiple emails. I downloaded openssh-3.5p1 and compiled under AIX. Now, if I run that program, Sandor W. Sklar in bugzilla #124 suggested (see below), it works in linux, not in AIX 5.1. in AIX it produces the same "hang" as the original problems Ihave with "tclsh"-command. sshd hangs with this output:

Failure to rename files that have active file handles
We have just installed Samba 1.9.18p10 on an Ultra Sparc, Solaris 2.5.1 . So far we have been very impressed with the resilience and performance of Samba in contrast to Hummingbird and Solstice NFS products while doing large product builds on our NT4.0 sp4 machines. However we have come across one little problem, which may be down to configuration, that has left us "worried" about
