sftp needs a long time for sending a filelist
Hello all Im using sftp 1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1.2 in a batchjob Ive noticed that sftp needs a long time for sending a filelist. The timespan increases exponential if many files are on the remoteserver. for example "ls -la *.txt" needs 10 seconds for 2000 files but needs 50 seconds for 4000 files. For 150.000 Files i have to wait 15 minutes for example but the

rsync 2.5.5 compilation problems
Hi, I compiled rsync on an HPUX 11i box, and got lots of errors about redefining sendfile() and sendpath(). The compilation succeeded, but the binary failed. I then took a binary I had compiled on an HP11.00 box, and it worked fine. I tried this with both gcc & the HP ansic compilers. The same results. I am attaching a full transcript of the configure & compilation session. The ld

ls and rm: "argument list too long"
Since when is there a limit in how long directory listings CentOS can show (ls), or how large directories can be removed (rm). It is really annoying to say, for example rm -rf /var/amavis/tmp and get only "argument list too long" as feedback. Is there a way to go round this problem? I have CentOS 5.2. - Jussi -- Jussi Hirvi * Green Spot Topeliuksenkatu 15 C * 00250 Helsinki *

OpenSSH 2.5.2p1 - What has changed since 2.5.1p
Pardon the novice question here, but after the problems I had with trying to get 2.5.1p(whatever) to install on one of my systems, I noticed with great interest the release of 2.5.2p1. When I checked out the change log for this releases RPM, there was nothing pertaining to what has changed between 2.5.1p and 2.5.2p. I didn't see anything on the OpenSSH web site regarding changes between

Tru64 UNIX SIA in 2.5.2p1 is hosed
Something really hosed Digital/Tru64 UNIX SIA support in 2.5.2p1. I haven't been able to figure out what changed in the code, but the symptom seems to be that the TTY name being registered with SIA is truncated to eight characters. This apparently prevents it from matching with entries in the tty database, and the dreaded "Cannot obtain database information on this terminal

Tru64 UNIX SIA in 2.5.2p1 is hosed (still)
The recent patch posted by Steve VanDevender <stevev at darkwing.uoregon.edu> for fixing the session code on Tru64 isn't quite right -- it still fails in the case of NO tty being allocated. The problem is that s->tty is a char[TTYSZ] rather than a char *, and hence can't hold a NULL. Calling sia_ses_init() with the tty being an empty string doesn't signify no tty, and

Exim4 authentication patch
Hello all, attached patch makes possible to use dovecot as an authentication backend for Exim 4. Reasons beyond this patch are simple: exim's authenticators require use of plaintext passwords and NTLM code in exim is quite outdated and hairy. Patch generated against Exim 4.43, but should apply to earlier versions too. Patch adds new 'dovecot' authenticator, which can be used as such:

include/exclude patterns to copy just certain files?
I am attempting to copy only certain files down a directory tree. I know which files I want. I could generate a file of just those with 'find'. But having read the docs I have been trying to use the --include and --exclude patterns to have rsync pick the right files itself. But I can't figure it out. I am suspecting that I can't do what I want to do. Source example, this is

patch to change sprintf to snprintf in inet_ntop.c for SunOS4
I found that inet_ntop.c was depending on the return value of sprintf to return an int, but on SunOS4 it returns a char *. Snprintf is preferred anyway, so here's a patch to change the calls to use snprintf. Applies cleanly to the current CVS, and it was the only patch I need to apply to get 2.9p1 to build on SunOS4.1.4. On the other hand, I can't see any where inet_ntop is called, and

AIX defines TILDE in <sys/ioctl.h>. Rename to TILDE_CHAR. Feel
