Error in untar2(tarfile, files, list, exdir) : unsupported entry type ‘x’
Hi R gurus, I'm getting the following error when trying to build and install an R package: Error in untar2(tarfile, files, list, exdir) : unsupported entry type ?x? I build the package like so: R --no-init-file CMD build mypackage Then try to install it: sudo R --no-init-file CMD INSTALL mypackage.tar.gz ...which dies with the above error. I can extract the archive fine with tar -zxf, so

Voicemail - direct call
Hi list! How to send a call directly to voicemail recording? When I put this exten => 313,n,VoiceMail,u221 Or this exten => 313,n,VoiceMail,b221 In my dial plan, calling person first hears greeting message (busy or unviable). I would like to avoid greeting message (I would play something with Playback application). Is it possible? -- Tomislav Parcina tparcina#lama.hr

ANNOUNCE: openssh-1.2.1pre18
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have just uploaded 1.2.1pre18. This is mainly merges from the OpenBSD tree, bugfixes for Solaris and libc5 Linux systems. At this point the main holdup is Solaris. I have

BUG: ssh hangs on full stdout-file-system
System: Linux 2.4.18, openssh-3.4p1 Problem: I use "ssh" and "tar" to backup remote directory trees to a local hard-disk/file-system: # ssh remote.server.org "tar -cz /home" >/backup/remote.tar.gz If the backup-file-system runs out of space before the backup completes, ssh starts hanging (waiting for the stdout-write to complete). installing package from source with Linux
Dear list, this may not be related to R but rather to my OS, but I do not understand the issue of compiling R packages deeply enough to figure out the exact cause of the problem. I am trying to install a R package from source as it is not yet available under Cran (Rssa, downloaded here: https://github.com/asl/rssa). Running sudo R CMD INSTALL asl-rssa-6f458e4.tar.gz from the console

Handling of password & account expirations
Hello, There has been an annoyance with OpenSSH that has been bugging me lately. It pays no attention to pw_change and pw_expire fields from the passwd file for users by default. Thus even if the admin has set a user's account to expire 5 days ago they can still login. So one might say, just add 'UseLogin yes' and all of your problems will be solved. This of course is not a good

argv[0] => host feature considered harmful
OpenSSH still has this feature, SSH-1.2.27 no longer has it. Admittedly it can be useful sometimes, even though I'd prefer this to be done using a trivial shell wrapper, which would be the UNIX way of doing things. Not being able to call OpenSSH's ssh by another name (say ``ssh1'') can get in the way when having to maintain two versions of ssh in parallel because the ``ssh ->

Rhosts-RSA authentication broken
Hello ! I think a problem was introduced in openssh-2.3.0p1 which is still there in the latest openssh-2.5.2p1. I just noticed it before my vacation and could not send this mail earlier than today. The problem is: You can't use the Rhosts-RSA authentication based on the hosts.equiv file and the host keys. The only possible way to do rhosts-RSA authentication is to allow the usage of the
