[2.2.0p1] patch: generic detection of correct getpgrp() invocation
Hi.
Several OSes have a getpgrp() function that takes an argument, unlike
what POSIX mandates. NeXT was covered, but SunOS wasn't. This
provides a generic solution through autoconf.

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1: HP-UX 11.00 64-bit
I have encountered a problem with using OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 on 64-bit HP-UX
11.00 systems. This bug does not exhibit itself on any 32-bit HP-UX
11.00 or HP-UX 10.20 systems that I have built 2.3.0p1 on. OpenSSH
2.3.0p1 was built with HPs ANSI C compiler with OpenSSL 0.9.6 and zlib
1.1.3.
The problem is with the call to vhangup(2) in sshd when interactive
sessions are started. The problem does not

SFTP Status Bar..
This is the LAST version I plan on doing.. If I hear no feed back good
or bad. Then I'll assume I've wasted my time on a feature that people
whine about but don't care to try. This is against 3.0.2pX so it
should be VERY easy for anyone to test.

rsync 2.5.6 freezes between Solaris2.6/Commercial SSH Version 2.0.12 and Solaris8/OpenSSH_3.6.1p1
We had been using rsync and Commercial SSH to sync up
two SUN boxes running Solari2.6 and Commercial SSH
Version 2.0.12. It has never been a problem syncing
between over 80,000 files and 4GB of content
We are upgrading to Solaris 8 and OpenSSH_3.6.1p1
However now when I go between the older and the newer
environment even with just a few hundred files, the
rsync hangs or freezes when it hits a

cross compiling configure errors
Hi all!
I want to cross compile openssh to our own CPU and our embedded
Linux platform, however I get at least the following errors when running
configure:
checking whether snprintf correctly terminates long strings... configure:
error: can not run test program while cross compiling
checking whether getpgrp takes no argument... configure: error: cannot check
getpgrp if cross compiling

rsync-2.5.6 performance sucks between winXP and Solaris8
If I try to rsync OpenOffice-directory (OO as an example, 155 MBytes)
to Solaris8-machine/rsync-server it takes 4-5 minutes, about
70 MBytes gets transfered and eventually rsync.exe/winXP "dies"; actually
winXP's net doesn't responde anymore and I have to boot whole machine!
But when I try to do same between Linux and Solaris everything
works fine, transfer speed is about

smbfs support under Solaris8?
The smbmount man page states that the kernel must support the smbfs file
system for ambmount to function. I've been unable to determine whether
Solaris8 supports smbfs. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has some
experience here.

Hi,
I installed Samba 2.2.2. and winbind on Solaris8. but I have some problems with
Winbind, because it does not work.
I read all the INSTALL from samba sources but when I type

I get the follow error:

My smb.conf is the follow:

core dump during make check when building 64-bit R on Solaris8/9
Hi,
After reading some of the posting in this list, I came across this
posting from:

Replying to Re: [R] Errors during make check
He described a problem similar to mine, that build 64-bit R (I am
building R version 2.0.1) with sunperf library gives a core dump during
make check. So I configured my

sftp-server and chown
Hi,
I've already discussed this issue in SSHSCI's SSH 2.2 context on
ssh at clinet.fi list. My standpoint is that it's wrong and meaningless
to perform chown in sftp-server as the file is most likely copied
between systems with distinct accounting system where user is not
necessarily (and even unlikely) has same numeric user id. The original
bug report was that user couldn't

I looked into that problem a bit more. Several programs use

Solaris utmp problems
Could all those who were having problems with utmp logging on Solaris
please try the test release at:
http://violet.ibs.com.au/openssh/files/test/openssh-TEST-2000053100.tar.gz
Users on other platforms, particularly HP/UX, AIX and SCO are invited
as well, to test compatibility.
The login code is heaps cleaner now.

getpgrp
These days, sshd.c has:
static void
grace_alarm_handler(int sig)
{
...
if (getpgid(0) == getpid()) {
signal(SIGTERM, SIG_IGN);
killpg(0, SIGTERM);
}
sigdie(...);
}
however (really) old BSDs do not have getpgid(). They do have
getpgrp(), which does what we want here. The question is what to do if
we have neither: return the pid (and thus
