SCO 5.0.5 setluid patch
I downloaded openssh-2.5.1p1 as soon as it was on the ftp servers just
to get the setluid patch. After compiling and installing on 5.0.5 I saw
that the luid still wasn't being set correctly whether sshd was run from
inetd or as a daemon from /etc/rc2.d/. I fiddled around and moved the
setluid() stuff up higher in session.c and now luid is now being set
correctly. I provided a regular diff

[PATCH]: Remove HAVE_CYGWIN in favor of NO_IPPORT_RESERVED_CONCEPT
Hi,
I've sent that patch once already but it seems more or less forgotten
in the tumultuous days of the latest vulnerability.
It adds a new define NO_IPPORT_RESERVED_CONCEPT which can be defined
on platforms not supporting the concept of "privileged" ports only
accessible by privileged users but which allow everyone to use these
ports.
This patch removes some Cygwin dependencies

SCO Openserver Patch
I downloaded the Openssh-2.3.0p1 file and ran configure only to have it
fail reporting the lack of libz. I found that configure was failing
beacuse the test program did not include the libtinfo and libm which are
needed to resolve references in libprot. I made changes to the configure
script to add those libraries for SCO Openserver and then tried to compile
the programs only to run into another

test request: SCO with setluid() (i686-pc-sco3.2v5.0.7, possibly others)
Hi all.
I am cleaning up (I hope) one of the nastier pieces of code in openssh:
do_setusercontext which is/was a twisty maze of platform-specific
nested ifdefs. I made a series of changes[1] where I moved each
platform-specific piece into a portable-only file platform.c, which does
not need to be kept in sync with OpenBSD.
The changes did not (I hope!) change the semantics, but there's one

Ported OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 to Dynix
Hello Porters,
I've finally (thanks to Wendy Palm of Cray) ported OpenSSH to
Dynix v4.4.4. I had to make sure that "UseLogin" was set to "no" in the
sshd_config file. Also, here are the old-style contextual diffs (obtained
with 'diff -c' on the Dynix box) of the two files I had to change:

BSD/OS with privsep
I need this for BSD/OS 4.2 + privsep
perhaps we should not call do_setusercontext() after
chroot().

Login Patch
Please excuse me for mailing you directly instead of using the 'sendbug'
facility; it seems to be an OpenBSD-only facility, and I didn't see a
bug-tracking interface on the web site.
I know the "UseLogin" feature is deprecated (to some degree, at any
rate), however, on a Red Hat 6.2-based system, it is broken, because
ssh.h statically defines LOGIN_PROGRAM as /usr/bin/login,

Porting OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 to Dynix V4.4.4
Hello Porters,
I am attempting to compile OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on a Dynix V4.4.4 host.
I have set USE_PIPES and BROKEN_SAVED_UIDS (the latter because there are
no functions for set{eu,eg}id() that I can find). I configured with
"./configure '--with-libs=-lnsl -lsec'".
Each time I attempt to login, I get this error:
No utmp entry. You must exec "login" from

[PATCH] improved chroot handling
There are a couple of niggles with the sandboxing of the unprivileged
child in the privsep code: the empty directory causes namespace pollution,
and it requires care to ensure that it is set up properly and remains set
up properly. The patch below (against the portable OpenSSH, although the
patch against the OpenBSD version is very similar) replaces the fixed
empty directory with one that is

Solaris 2.6 needs '#define HAVE_BOGUS_SYS_QUEUE_H 1' to build OpenSSH 3.1p1
I needed to manually add a '#define HAVE_BOGUS_SYS_QUEUE_H 1' to the
config.h file to get OpenSSH 3.1p1 to properly build under Solaris
2.6. Without it, the system <sys/queue.h> is included rather than
using the openbsd-compat/fake-queue.h and the various TAILQ_* macros
are not defined.
I suspect that the configure.ac file needs to be updated to add the

OpenSSH 3.1: ssh-rand-helper
Dear openssh-developers,
the new external program ssh-rand-helper appeared in
OpenSSH 3.1. While the SFTP_SERVER is defined using
a _PATH_SFTP_SERVER pointing to SFTP_SERVER in Makefile.in
and defining a default-path in pathnames.h the ssh-rand-helper
is simply SSH_RAND_HELPER and defined with a fixed path
in Makefile.in and not having a default in pathnames.h.
I propose a handling analogous to

3.6p1 bug on SCO OpenServer
SCO OpenServer 5.0.x
Openssh 3.6p1
loginrec.c writes incorrect data into the ut_id field of the utmp file.
This has been an issue since at least openssh 3.0.2 but I never bothered
to report it. For Openssh 3.6p1, defining WITH_ABBREV_NO_TTY corrects
the problem. Below is a brief patch to configure which does this. You
can observe the errant results in the "Line" column from the

OpenSSH 2.4.0 patch call..
I spoke with Markus before Christmas (I hope all your holidays were better
then mine.. But that's another topic. Car are evil.=) and he would like
to release 2.4.0 in the very near future.
Is there any undisputed patches still out not applied to the current
portable CVS tree? (BTW, I just applied the getrlimit patch from
Corinna.)

SCO OpenServer password issue
If SCO OpenServer is configured for large passwords, i.e. u_pwseg is
greater than 1 in /etc/auth/system/default, then user authentication in
auth-passwd.c will fail for users whose passwords are longer than 8
characters. The "traditional" level of security installs with
u_pwseg#1, so most users would never encounter this problem. This has
been an issue in openssh since I started using

Patch for ReliantUnix
Hi all,
attached you find a patch for OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 configure which enables OpenSSH
to again compile under ReliantUnix (due to utimes it is again needed to
include /usr/ucblib/libucb.a)
Sorry for not testing it before the release ;-(
Best regards

[Bug 146] OpenSSH 3.1p1 will not build on BSD/OS 4.2/4.1/4.01

I just went through someone with this problem. And HAVE_BOGUS_SYS_QUEUE_H
worked for them. However you must have BOTH HAVE_SYS_QUEUE_H and
HAVE_BOGUS_SYS_QUEUE_H set.
As for INADDR_LOOPBACK. I'd like to know where on BSD/OS that is defined
so we can
